I think what basically ended up happening for that game was the T-Will basically came up with the game plan for that game. While maybe not being named DC, the defensive scheme we put on the field for that game was basically his and I think he might have called the plays that day too.

I can promise you it didn't happen that way.

Maybe not but I do remember reading that somewhere that he was responsible for our game plan against Memphis.

I'm not saying T-will was in charge of the defense.

ETA: And I was mis-remembering about play calling. Thompson did do that in the bowl game.

Just because the HC needs to go doesn’t mean T-Will does

He helped a lot, but it wasn't anything close to saying it was his defense. One of the few games where I was in the room.

Yep, and as Jamal said above since he was actually there, was definitely partly true, but probably exaggerated as well.

Thai's take was definitely exaggerated.

Back to the original point of the argument. I do think T-Will has shown on many occasions a skill for game planing and schematics. When Steele does finally leave, i'd have no problem promoting T-Will to DC.

Wouldn't hate that either. Both of them together would be incredible. I do feel pulling TRob away will be a tough pull as he is about married to Muschamp.

How secure is Muschamp these days?

No telling. Also no telling wherever he goes next, TRob won't follow him as his DC.

When the time comes, if we think TRob is the right person, by all means go after him. My only point was that getting him is less of a sure thing than TWill. If Steele retires after next season hypothetically, if we offer it to TWill it is a guarantee he takes it IMO. Not necessarily the case with Trob.

That was my only point. That's neither a pro or con, was just an observation.

Per a Crystal Ball article Keith did a week ago Auburn still likely leads.

I realize it is hypothetical, but watching TRob at USCe hasn't been that impressive. I wouldn't be excited about him as a DC hire. I'd love to have him back as DB coach and recruiting for us but not as DC at this point.

What's the vibe around Ryan Pugh? I know he is OC at Troy, but the OL coach here would pay more.

Wouldn't hate the hire, but how many former players are we gonna have on staff?

All of them. I hear Jake Holland submitted his application for water boy next season. His application was rejected because he couldn’t get water to the players fast enough during Spring training.
