I guess. But the depth in this class is very weak. We will sign 3 TE/HB in this class when we don't even use them. Meanwhile we will be lucky to sign 4 OL in this class.

This is false. We don’t throw often to this position. We use the position quite often. Those are also typically versatile guys that contribute heavily to ST.

Likely. We will be likely to sign 4 OL in this class. Complain as much as you want about quality but you killed your own point

Ah I was referring to 247 Composite not Rivals on Cam

Gotcha...I just stick with Rivals. They've been doing it longer.

FWIW the 247 rankings tend to be the ones we melt about the most on here Rivals does fine but the composite is really the gold standard IMO. It kinda mutes the Bart Simmons-like biases that site rankings can show

Ya I stick to Composite because it has multiple sources. Would be curious if they got more accurate by dropping ESPN's rankings from the algorithm

Pretty wild that following a 7-5 season AU is gonna have one of it's top heaviest classes of all time

Two things factor into this IMO.

Having the connection to a big time QB prospect...helps recruiting. We have historically struggled to land the elite QB's.

It also shows these decisions are often made a year or so before...was this class really built on the strong season in 2017 and dare I say the contract which gave the kids confidence in the longevity of the coaching staff.

and the 4 we sign will "Likely" be trash as we are down to chasing everyone's backup plans and trying to turn them into starters.

Well outside of FSU.. They are sucking at this OT thing too

Florida has 4 OTs committed and want Ira Henry (would be their lowest rated OT) for depth.

That is how you OT

Those things are likely true. I think the pull of our staff is really strong. It’s a good mix of infectious personalities that probably makes the team element more fun than some other places. Certain kids are drawn to that I think

Jones and Osborne were taken very early. Hard to lump them in there.

The backup plan narrative that you guys spew is kind of laughable. There’s 50 or so 4*+ OL in this class. 300+ OL will sign at P5 schools this year. They’re almost all backup plans

The athletic put out an interesting article a couple days ago... basically every OL who is currently at the senior bowl was 290 LBs or less coming out of high school... some weighed as little as 240.

The point being that evaluations along the OL are hard as hell and almost a total crapshoot... who gives a crap if someone on a message board thinks a guy is a “backup plan”... those are gonna be the guys who contribute down the road.

I just don’t like the term since it’s not at all descriptive

Anyhow, I think there’s fair concern in regards to OT recruitment so I don’t mind the groans as it relates to that. I think if you watch the OL tapes you’ll be surprised to see how little different they appear. A lot of the rankings stem from camp matchups in non game situations.

So we are spend 3 scholarships on end line blockers. Smart move.

Yep. TE’s are OL that are eligible to catch the ball. Blocking is their primary role

Factor into that Joiner may be moving more to full time RB and it makes sense. Grad Transfer for immediate help next year and then guys to hopefully take the roll for the 2-3 years after that. Regardless of how sexy the position is or how poorly we may or may not use them in the passing game, it is a pretty integral and important one in Gus's offense.

But it is also point foolish to have more TE on scholarship than OTs.

We literally will have 3 TE’s and a HB on scholarship past this season We’ll have 4 this upcoming season - a move made necessary because of Luke Deal’s ACL surgery.

Can we stop the fake outrage now?
