but why is Gus seemingly pursuing him harder than Hurts?

We couldn't get Hurts with a bag of cash and a truck bed full of hookers.

Ya it has to go both ways. Been reported in a few places that AU is interested in Hurts but doesn't matter if he doesn't wanna go here. I could see him being reluctant to join the rival school after leaving Bama somewhat a hero for his SEC Championship performance

Two very interesting CBs today

Josh Newberg (FSU insider) put one in for Charles Moore to UF

JC Shurburtt (SCAR insider) put one in for Jammie Robinson to AU

KN continues to hear that AU likes where they sit with Moore. Also Newberg doesn't cover any of Moore's finalists but still concerning to see that CB after OV. The Robinson news is pretty big imo. Most believed SCAR has been the team to beat for much of this race so maybe AU has taken the lead there

That is the crux of the matter.

Robinson reminds me a bit of Mathieu (honeybadger). I like him. My guess is we don't feel great about flipping Maurice Hampton so we're willing to take Robinson now and just have a "best available" spot for Hampton.

What if a transfer is better?

Complete guess on my part but it might come down to what happens at DB. If they can flip Hampton or take Jammie maybe they only snag 1 RB. Miss on both then possibly have a spot for Griffin as well
Not sure if you missed it while you were away Paw but Mark Murphy & JLee said in the past week we can actually take 26-27. That would mean room would not be an issue to taking both RBs & a DB. I could be wrong but I think the staff may see Griffin as a luxury instead of a need since we have DJ in the class as it sounds like we are still not all in going after him.

I can understand if it's a "can't miss" world beater QB but I'm just not seeing it! I think Nix and/or Gatewood have what it takes.

And what if the transfer isn't better? How far do we regress wasting time on them?

I think it's time for Gus to show he can develop a QB!

I am confused. I thought NCAA made a new rule a couple years back limiting each class to 25.

They did but if you didn't fill up the year before then some January enrollies can count back to fill up the previous year's 25. 5 being the max allowed for that.

Sooo DJ is a virtual lock to be a composite 4* later today. At minimum he is getting a big bump from ESPN.

I get the vibe Gus isn't too impressed with Gatewood. This kid out of OU would allow him to run the same O Nix will run. No reason to go all RPO when our future is a hell of a passer. It is kind of funny tho. When we had NM, the internets told me it was mickey mouse and we needed to evolve to real man football. Now that we are running a more pro set, we all want the mickey mouse again.

I'm not. Especially looking at the AU QB roster in 2019. Plus, that OU kid can sling it.

At worst the OU wins the job and we red shirt Nix. For whatever reason Gus doesn't seem to want to go back to the running QB.

Interesting, I thought it was and hand injury?

If we get a transfer it won't be the end of the world but I'd rather see Gatewood or Nix come in and do what we see other freshman QB's do.

And honestly I don’t know how much Willis is allowed to actually read the play. I think they’re going in with the read already called because there’s no way Gus is committing significant practice time for Willis to learn RPO when we run a way different offense under Stidham.

But yeah I agree. I think Gus wants a bridge from Stidham to Nix with the least amount of offensive change as possible

I agree, but the OU kid has more wheels than stidham from video ive seen. When the play breaks down he gets 1st downs.

Even with Marshall there was a pretty decent chunk of plays that the read was predetermined. Every running play wasn't a zone read, even if it was designed to look like one.

Go watch the 2013 Iron Bowl, then iur boel game. We run the same offense did back then. The offense did not really change much. The personnel to run it has gotten much much worse thanks to Gus' inability to scout.
