Curious how the New OC is going to affect things.

Staff should be able to spin the new OC hire in a way that excites recruits. Memphis was a top 10 offense.

KN has a reaction thread & it's all commits/recruits basically going "No idea who he is but I'm sure he's great"

Saw that Clay Webb is announcing this morning and that Sam Pittman will be attending. Good get for UGA - keeps getting harder and harder to beat them with each recruit like this they get.

Good point. I thought too, that if aLABama didnt get an instate player that we should at least be sepnd on his list, knowing he probably could start right away. But I think we have a weak OL recruiter when trying to get 5* OL. Recent history shows that as we have been totally inconsistent w our OL recruiting.

Something needs to be done, as I always learned that recruiting top players is critical for OL, DL and QB for teams. You don't win if you can't block or rush the passer and stop a running game.

FWIW on Webb has a lot of family connections to UGA. Honestly thought he was all Bama for pretty much his whole recruitment so that's a huge pull for the Dawgs. Sam Pittman is insane

Also bad news, CLEM 247 Anna Hickey CB's Putnam to CLEM....

Absolutely cannot lose that battle

A Clempson writer putting in a CB for Clempson is bad news? I thought they all did that for the school they cover.

Sorry I just don't get the CB's

Obviously a writer covering a certain school will have more picks for that school because they are reporting on kids connected to that school. However, just because they are a writer for that school doesn't mean they automatically will put in picks for the same school

Typically the best way to use CB feature is to see how the insiders of the top schools for a prospects are picking. If all of them are saying the same thing, chances are pretty good prospects is going to that pick. Right now, doesn't seem to be a lot of clarity on Putnam but fact she felt good enough to put in a pick for CLEM is a concern. She beat out AU insiders on Andrew Booth earlier this cycle

Thanks Paw for the explanation!

So would it be best to wait closer to the actual prospect announcement date to get excited about the CB's?

My advice would be take every bit of recruiting news as a negative until they sign with us (even then don’t get that excited see Asa Martin, Byron Cowart, etc. )

100%

I think my MLB fanship serves me well on recruiting. Most kids MLB teams draft don’t pan out. You have different restrictions and variables in college football but the key point is that for every Cowart and Asa there’s a Coe, Whitlow, DeShaun Davis, etc

The one thing I’m sure of is that recruiting is a numbers game. And specifically, it’s a numbers game of quality. And not necessarily with the very high end guys but just an embarrassment of riches with the mid to low 4* guys.

Good thing there was that class where we enrolled 1 OL recruit. We are keeping the numbers up like that.

I see that FSU commit Quashon Fuller canceled his OV to FSU after his visit to Auburn this weekend. Got to be good news right?

I saw last night he quickly deleted his own tweet supporting his “big bro” Derrick Brown for the CFB Man of tbe year vote or something. Could he be a silent commitment?
