Wish we could buy ourselves a good OL recruiter.

Yep, I think that Auburn could truly be an elite team with good OL recruiting - instead we will have games like LSU last weekend which keep hounding us and biting us in the arse and giving us 9-3 and 8-4 type seasons.

Heck, I would be ok if we settled for simply buying ourselves some good OL recruits.

Truth is OL is a position you don't have to recruit 5*s too to find success

But you do need to have some sort of system in place where you are consistently developing your OL talent & have the next wave ready to go

AU does neither right now. Our numbers are up & down in terms of guys we bring in. Haven't had the development in place & instead have had to rely on transfers/JUCO

I'm ok with bringing in a grad transfer to plug a hole but frustrating to have to rely on that each season

Optimistic we get 4-5 quality guys this class but not really sure who that will end up being

I saw where only he and his mom live in Alabama.
All of his other relatives live in GA. So that could be a big influence on him other than he really likes the OL coach at GA too.

We thought we did this with Hand. The only positive about him was that he was supposed to be a good recruiter. Ended up sucking at that too.

Can he move to OT if we’re in a pinch?

I’ve read this a bunch (especially on Bama boards) and I just don’t see the lure. Maybe if the guy was in Arizona or Michigan or something but Auburn is like an hour and change from Atlanta. I think he just likes his chances of being better at UGA and I don’t blame him

Wolk put up insider yesterday. Here's summary

- Wolk followed up with 4* OG William Putnam to hear his thoughts after visit high had worn off. Putnam said this visit was much different as he felt like he was more immersed with the team than previous one. Was impressed with how both of his player hosts love the coaching staff despite one being a walk on (Tucker Brown) & other other being a scholarship guy (Shenker). Apparently AU has 4 coaches on Putnam in Gus, Chip, JB & Horton. However, it's Horton leading the charge. Plans to take OVs to FSU & CLEM in October. Said AU shouldn't worry about being first OV as he takes notes on these visits & once they are done will sit down & compare. Wolk believes AU is the current team to beat for Putnam

- With McIntosh's OV done now the next two RB OVs to monitor are Noah Cain & Mark-Antony Richards. Obviously the result of game didn't help AU's cause with Cain but doesn't mean all hope is lost just yet. AU is gonna pursue up till he OVs then go from there. Apparently staff wants to set up OV with Richards after Cain's so they can be completely honest with where things stand when he visits. Cain will OV for Tennessee

- Wolk thinks Derick Hall will commit by the end of the week

- Wolk thinks right now AU leads for these 2020 prospects: QB Robby Ashford, RB Tank Bigsby, RB Roydell Williams, WR EJ Williams & DE Will Anderson

I'm not even counting pickens in this class. He'll be the big loss this year in recruiting.

FWIW KN has a recruiting insider up stating that AU is still very confident he sticks with AU. Honestly, he's surprised Pickens is just now visiting Bama
