Wide receiver Justyn Ross (4-star)

This might be target No. 1 for Auburn in January.

Justyn Ross is the top-ranked player in the state of Alabama. Auburn, Alabama and Clemson will all chase Ross desperately the next month and a half. For now, it’s the out-of-state program that looks to be the favorite for Ross heading into the final stretch.

Ross has visited Auburn more than anywhere during his recruitment. Part of that stems from his proximity to home in Phenix City, Ala. Alabama and Clemson will go after Ross as heavily as Auburn, which should make for a class National Signing Day battle.

Wide receiver Anthony Schwartz (4-star)

Anthony Schwartz will announce his college decision on Jan. 4 during the ESPN live broadcast of the Under Armour All-American Game.

Schwartz’s decision has come down to Florida and Auburn.

For a while, the Gators were the clear team to beat for Schwartz. He had been pegged as a Florida lean for more than a year, and even Schwartz has substantiated those claims to some extent. It wasn’t until the Florida staff changeover — and Schwartz’s visit for the Iron Bowl — that he finally labeled Auburn as his leader.

Scwhartz is known for his electric track speed. In fact, he’s technically the fastest 100-meter youth sprinter ever with his time of 10.15 seconds.

That’s a speed element the Tigers would love to add at receiver, and it’s possible that addition comes early in January.

Punter Arryn Siposs (3-star Auburn commit)

Arryn Siposs could have signed early if the Australian paperwork was less complicated.

The former Australian rules footballer from the Prokick Australia punting program is destined to be the Tigers’ next punter. When he signs isn’t of the utmost importance. Siposs officially visited with his fiancee a few weeks ago and remains quite excited to embark on his United States student-athlete adventure.

It may not seem ideal to use one of the final 10 spots on a punter, but in Siposs’ case, Auburn expects him to bring a much-needed element to the Tigers’ special teams.

Linebacker Quay Walker (4-star Alabama commit)

Quay Walker, maybe more than any other prospect, would bring Auburn fans National Signing Day jubilation.

The Alabama linebacker commit has shown signs of wavering since committing to the Crimson Tide. Even more so, Walker’s commitment to Alabama has been affected by defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt — his lead recruiter — leaving to become Tennessee head coach.

Georgia and Auburn will do everything they can to flip Walker in January.

Linebackers coach Travis Williams’ relationship with Walker will make the Tigers a tough team to beat down the stretch.

FWIW Phillip Marshall says he's hearing Shelton Felton is the leading candidate for that 10th coaching spot. He is Big Kat Bryant's & Quay Walker's former HS coach. At UT Chattanooga this past season.

Before anyone asks, yes AU could still recruit Walker & his teammates for 2 reasons. First, Felton is being hired as an on field coach so that rule doesn't apply. Also he was at an FCS school last year so again rule wouldn't apply

Im just getting back into recruiting news - are we now considered the favorite with Pruitt leaving Bama? I had pretty much put a bullet in the thought of landing Quay.

Doubt he would even come given what he's gonna have to work with at UGA now but we need to open up the check book to bring Dell McGee back home.

Awesome. Nothing like hiring former coaches to get the players we want. Still would rather have McGee but if hiring Shelton Felton increases our chances to land Walker and some other big recruits down the road, why not.

Joiner leaning OM now?

The Hess kid has been friends with him since middle school and has signed there. Believe he's pushing to get him to go with him.

If we can close with a couple of those big OL, tannor, quay walker, that Juco CB, Schwartz, foucha , and some other solid backups, this would end up being a very good class

That would be awesome, but we only have 5 spots left and you listed like 8 + kids.

Felton is being hired on his own merit. He's a really good coach, and is basically THE man in south Georgia. He's as well-connected as anyone in those parts and is beloved there. Getting him and/or McGee would be really good for us.

Didn't we want Felton last year but couldn't because of the new rule and Big Cat?

His name is almost as cool as Boutros Boutros-Ghali -- who I think is coaching at Northwestern now...

The #31 player in country and #4 CB Olaijah Griffin says he's gonna take an OV to AU. Apparently he liked his visit to Tennessee so much he is thinking hard about playing in SEC and AU has been after him hard. Will also visit USC, Michigan and UF. I think Trojans are team to beat but big we getting visit from Cali kid that is in the top 50

Edit: actually Tennessee leads
