With spots being tight AU has unusual leverage here at end of year. Will be interesting to see how it shakes out
I'm Not going to know what to do without watching our annual scramble to fill 3star extravaganza.

I haven't kept up with recruiting near as much as I usually do. How do we feel about our 3 star guys this year? I'm excited about Newkirk but how does everyone else feel about Jackson, Fuqua, Stutts, and Marsh?
Does anyone have any insight on any of them?

"Do all of our pass plays require our RB to stay in and block?"
A lot of them do. Especially against a 3-4 when the defense brings a linebacker off the edge and the offense does not know what edge they are coming from. KP and KJ did a great job picking up these guys one on one and allowing Stidham to stay in the pocket.
Also, many of these blitzing LBs in the 3-4 are hybrid linebackers / defensive ends so it takes a bigger, stronger running back to handle the rusher.
A smaller running back will just get pushed back into the QB.
These future freshman running backs need to learn to pass block to play in the NFL so it needs to be a priority for them.

Jackson - Outstanding senior season. He's a true deep threat that I think ends up playing same spot as Darius Slayton. Was noticeably improved from his junior to senior seasons. Still pretty raw athlete learning to play the position
Fuqua - Originally committed to play WR but has smartly switched over to S where he's a better fit. Great frame but I will admit he's the guy I am most skeptical about at next level. Just worried he's gonna be a step slow
Stutts - I am a huge Stutts fan. Reminds me a lot of Harrell coming out of high school. Big kid with a lot of power and looks to take people's heads off. Will need some time to rework his body some and learn how to not play standing straight up. I wouldn't be shocked to see him take the same path as Harrell to playing time
Marsh - Blew coaching staff away at junior camp at end of summer. He either set or came close to setting the Alabama state record for tackles. Not sure of his position at next level but staff thinks he's such a great athlete you sign him and figure that out later. Excited to see him in the AL/MS All Star Game

KN reporting that 4* DE Kayode Oladele is pushing his commitment date back... He visited Ole Miss this past weekend. Expected to OV to AU this weekend. KN says FSU could get involved as well if new coach wants him too. Says will probably have a decision around Christmas or the end of the year
Damn was hoping we could get him on board soon

what are you basing the star rankings in the OP on?
Shivers, Sherwood, and Irvin are all composite 4*s now

I don't know what that means
I don't have any super secret info I am holding back. This is where I come to participate in my sick hobby of following the lives of high school football players

Cool
Didn't want to be like "hey these guys got bumped in the composite" if you were using the Rivals or standard 247 ratings

Also, hot take: The only ratings that really matter are the ESPN ones because they're the ones that get thrown on TV on NSD and throughout the year

Well you aren't wrong from a publicity standpoint
The big issue with ESPN rankings is so much is really based off their junior seasons & who comes to the Under Armour All-American game. It's like once they get a top 300 heading into the new recruiting cycle they just kind of coast until the All Star game. Throw in the major cuts to that department & it's a bit of a nightmare
But those are the ratings everyone will see on NSD & the ones during games that get brought up so it's definitely nice to have guys ranked high there. I will always hate them tho for ranking Moultry like #296 or some dumb crap like that

This is a good point.
The only exception is that being a 5* on any service makes you a broadcast announcer 5*

10-4. I was wanting to hear rumors of coaching smack talk that never makes it into cruiting news.

Ah gotcha
FWIW I do get impression that Gus & Smart are far from buddies due to some stuff on the recruiting trail. I think he & Orgeron negatively recruit against AU more than anyone. I have no hard facts to back that up with but this is what the internet is for

Any talk of Marsh playing h-back?... I know Lindsey prefers more traditional TEs to fullbacks/HB, but the kid seems like he’d be a nice replacement for Cox after a redshirt season.
