No. 1 LB excited to see what Tigers 'do this season' (247)
quote:
When he gets to college, touted linebacker Owen Pappoe of Grayson (Ga.) wants to be coached by someone with whom he has a great relationship.
According to Pappoe, Auburn assistant Travis Williams is among those that fits the bill.
Also, he sees an upside with the Tigers.
“I think they’re just building now,” Pappoe said. “They didn’t have the best season last year but I’m excited to see what they do this season. I think they’re going to try to turn around the program. I didn’t see their recruiting class this year but I’m sure they brought in some good players that’s going to help them out so we’re going to see what they do.”
The 6-feet-1, 205-pound Pappoe is the No. 2 prospect in the country for the 2019 class. He already has visited Auburn a few times, but right now most think Alabama, Florida State, Georgia and Tennessee are the teams to beat.
In other words, Auburn has work to do.
The good news for the Tigers: They have plenty of time to do it.
Pappoe doesn’t appear to be in a rush to make a decision.

KN starting a target watch series. First one is on QB. Plan right now is to only sign 1 QB and that guy is 4* Joey Gatewood. Says Gatewood has never worked with a private QB coach and has limited snaps at position so incredibly raw. He's a freak athlete tho which is why despite that UGA, Texas and Oregon have all offered recently to try and steal him away. For now though he seems firm with AU and has clicked with Chip Lindsey
4* Gerry Bohanon is being recruited as an athelte at this time but as a QB by most other schools. I believe he haas said in past AU is dream school but I imagine he wants to play QB.
Other names to watch if things go sideways with Joey Gatewood: 4* Justin Fields (PSU Commit), 5* Emory Jones (Ohio State Commit) & 4* Cameron Rising (Oklahoma Commit). Rising is a pro style QB but has been recruited in past by Chip Linsey when he was Arizona State. He lists AU in his top 5

Rivals 3 Stripe Camp: Stars shine in New Orleans (Rivals)
quote:
Three-star running back Harold Joiner walked away with running back MVP honors at the event after an impressive weekend that saw come him to the Rivals New Speed Combine on Saturday and test off the charts and deliver again on Sunday at the Three Stripe Camp. Joiner was the unanimous favorite at the position among the coaches and analysts and it’s easy to see why he’s already racked up so many offers, including most recently LSU.

RCS New Orleans: Stars show out at New Speed Combine (Rivals)
quote:
The nation’s No. 186 overall player Ja’Marr Chase is hoping to punch his ticket to the Five-Star Challenge with a strong performance at Sunday’s 3 Stripe Camp but first he wanted to compete at Saturday’s combine. He posted some impressive numbers, including a 39.5-inch vertical. As far as his recruitment, the one-time Kansas commit said he’s still considering the Jayhawks, but programs such as Texas Tech, LSU and Oklahoma State have continued to make a strong push for his commitment. He recently visited the Red Raiders and said he liked the idea of playing the school’s pass-heavy offense.
quote:
Less than 24 hours after adding an offer from the LSU Tigers, Harold Joiner was competing at the New Speed Combine. He will be back Sunday competing at the 3 Stripe Camp as well, so his weekend is full. Joiner is a star out of Mountain Brook (Ala.) and he holds close to 20 offers. Auburn offered early and the in-state school has his attention as does LSU and many others. It is too early for the 6-foot-3, 214 pound athlete to have a leader.

KN has article on 3* RB Harold Joiner. Says two teams stand out right now: AU & LSU. He always wanted an LSU offer and recently got one. Coach O told him he was their #1 RB and wants him to be workhorse for them down the road. Joiner says LSU now recruiting him the hardest but AU & Ole Miss are close behind. Plans on making his decision after taking all 5 official visits so probably won't announce till closer to NSD
I think LSU has temporarily passed us as leader but still very early

247 also has article on NR WR DeLonta Evans. He recently visited for junior day and is high on AU despite not having an offer. Has a great relationship with Kodi Burns and thinks he's a "cool dude". Right now he has some decent offers from Louisville, Indiana and Illinois but an Auburn offer would change things. Plans to return to AU soon
His highlight film is pretty solid. Good size and speed combo. Wouldn't be shocked if he landed an offer down the line

We need a big back this cycle. I'd be surprised if Joiner went to LSU over Auburn.

So Mark Richt seems to be doing well at Miami recruiting.
Got me thinking that Richt winning a NC at Miami would be the preferred NC winner if AU doesn't win. The UGA melt would be delicious

I have mixed opinions on Gatewood. If he is having a hard time locking down the starting role in HS, what strong indicators we have that show he will produce at a high level in the SEC west?

He definitely doesn't seem like a kid that will be ready until probably year 3 at best so hopefully Stidham stays and/or Barrett can play a little.
I'm still holding out hope for Fields.

I'm still on the Joey Gatewood train. Dude is ultra athletic.

I am a mute, but if you are struggling with the preparation that's involved in game planning, conditioning, and leadership in high school, chances are you won't succeed at the next level. We signed JF3 based on athletic ability.
