2 classes in a row without a true Srongside End in the class. I don't see that happening. None of those 5 are strongside ends. JMO.
IMO that's exactly what Andres Fox is. I don't see him as some explosive Buck LB or WDE. He's heavy footed, from what I can see.

Some bad crootin news. Coynis Miller told AUC while AU & Florida are neck & neck he says the Gators lead. Not deciding soon. Keith's sources still feel he chooses AU in the end though.
there's a reason that there isn't a rush of Crystal balls being put in for Miller to UF. I think he really likes UF, but no way we lose him to them, IMO.

Need the season to get here so we can start winning and generating some buzz. I feel like if we have the season I think we should have we end up with Miller but his recruitment is going to be tight up until he signs most likely
Also UF is absolutely killing it on the recruiting trail right now. McElwain brought in some improved recruiters and is selling those SEC East titles hard and it's working

So where are these 6 Dlinemen going to come from that RG wants?

You can probably filter rankings based on JUCO/3*s to get a better idea

The Corky Kell Classic is this weekend and it's featuring quite a few AU targets. KN is at the media day and Matthew Hill said that a commitment is coming this week on Twitter

That will change, starting this season. Shark fricker should be licking Muschamp's balls, cause his defensive recruits (along with a really crappy East) have helped him backdoor into the SECC. The draft took most of those players, and UF is looking at a long year in 2017.

On an unrelated noted. Kentucky is trending up for both Jamari Brown and Stanley Garner. Those are two 6'3" corners. Stoops really likes size at CB it looks like

I really like Jamari Brown. I think we'd regret not taking him, but hopefully we can take our time and pull him late, if needed.

I think UF is going to get Richt'd with McElwain. Win enough to hold on but not enough to be relevant with SECe improving
Posted on 8/16/17 at 11:27 am to GenesChin
Richt is way better than McElwain.
Posted on 8/16/17 at 11:32 am to RandySavage
I agree, but being Richt'd just means they will be in limbo over when to fire

quote:Agree on the thesis of this post. To be successful in the long run at Florida I element that has to be there is you have to recruit Florida well. Signing only 4 of 50 4*s and 8 of 42 4*s in state his first 2 full classes ain't going to cut it. Unless his staff is some damn good developers that's going to bite him in the arse sooner or later. As for this year's class is good for them overall it's still not a Florida caliber class. The per recruit average is 9th which is solid but high quality classes at Florida routinely have them in the top 5 in rating per recruit. They appear to not be doing well in state again. They only have 3 of 54 4*s in state committed right now.

On that same note, UGA got McElwain'd. They hired a former $aban assistant, and will soon find out they made a terrible mistake.

I think Niebuhr tipped his hand with his last update.
I had already asked around and Hill is who he was referring to a couple days ago. Didn't take a genius to decipher it, but ATP, you can put that in the bank.

At least Smart's recruiting is elite though. Florida should be a top 5 recruiting job just by showing up

Auburn defensive back recruiting has soared in Greg Brown’s first cycle (SECCountry)
quote:
DB recruiting soars in Greg Brown’s first year
Greg Brown has taken a hands-off approach to recruiting since becoming Auburn’s secondary coach.
Brown has done his part, scouting prospects, attending high school games. But he’s leaned on defensive coordinator Kevin Steele and the support staff as the Tigers attempt to make a smooth transition from ace recruiter Wesley McGriff to Brown.
That’s why, when Brown was asked at assistant coach media day, he gave a vaguer answer than most about target numbers in the Class of 2018.
“You’re always looking to add quality players. As far as actually numbers, I’ll leave that to the recruiting staff and Coach [Gus] Malzahn to establish exactly what we’re going to do,” Brown said.
Brown has less work to do than many of the position coaches.
The Tigers have three prospects solidified in the 2018 class. Quindarious Monday, Jamien Sherwood and Kolbi Fuqua make up one of the more important safety groups. On top of that, Auburn added Josh Marsh after its final summer camp, and there’s a good chance Marsh finds a role in the secondary.
Brown laughed when asked what he looks for in a prospect — because he wants it all.
“We’re looking for those guys who are fast, can tackle, make plays, just all the usual, Brown said. “It’s really all about athleticism, how fluid is someone, how tough is a prospect, how many plays do they make. You’re really looking for guys who are fast-twitch. Fast-twitch both on the field with their feet and hips and fast-twitch with their minds and adjustments.”
Auburn has questions to answer at cornerback.
The Tigers have outside hopes for Alabama commit Jalyn Armour-Davis and Clemson commit Kyler McMichael, but those are long shots built around a superb 2017 season for Auburn. Derek Turner, Jamari Brown and Christian Tutt are prospects who have visited recently and been offered.
More names could surface over time. Brown knows what he’ll be looking for.
“But we’re always looking for a big, fast, tough kid. We usually want what everybody else wants,” Brown said. “Give me somebody that’s really, really good. Besides all those things, you’re really looking for, ‘Are they Auburn guys? Do they fit the mold?’ To me, there are some guys running around in this country, then you find they really don’t have that Auburn character.”

Defensive tackle names leader
One of Auburn’s top defensive targets — who made it into my projection Tuesday — revealed something interesting about his recruitment.
Coynis Miller told Drew Champlin of AL.com that his most recent visit to Florida had a bigger effect on him than previously believed. Miller said his top 2 of Auburn and Florida has one program stepping slightly above the other.
Florida has taken a lead, albeit small.
“I loved it when I went up there,” Miller told Champlin. “The coaches showed a lot of love, showing me around and showing me how they do things. Real good [relationship with coaches]. I talk to [defensive line coach Chris Rumph] just about every day. He just hit me up a couple of hours ago, telling me to have a good day and a good practice.”
This should make Auburn sweat a little bit. Miller has only taken one visit to Florida, and he’s already been blown away. He’s had the Florida Gators logo as his Twitter photo for months now, and Miller’s high school coach, Tim Vakakes, has said since last spring he wouldn’t be shocked to see Miller leave the state.
Auburn has to feel good Miller is talking about a top 2 that excludes Alabama. The Crimson Tide have a chance to become a factor, but for now, Florida looks like the primary threat.
If that’s the case, I expect Steele and defensive line coach Rodney Garner to seal the deal when it’s all said and done.
