KN just CB'd Michael Parker to Bama

Also Seth Wiliams is in Bama today

Finally, KN says he found out that Asa Martin actually spent two nights in AU this past weekend. Hung out a bunch with current players

Also KN says that Kolbi Fuqua is officially coming in as a safety. He committed as an athlete but apparently has thought about it and thinks his future is best at safety and is apparently excited about it

It was always expected he would land there but good to hear he's already bought in. So we are probably done at safety now. Will be curious to see if we only see Foucha as a safety or if they think he could play nickel or corner. I am betting he's no longer likely to land at AU which is a bit disappointing but hard to be too upset considering we hit on our top guys at this spot

So with Scout's merger with 247, I now got access to Caldwell's stuff too for recruiting

Tuscaloosa-based wide receiver Seth Williams describes comfort level in Auburn (SECCountry)
quote:

6-foot-4 receiver explains comfort in Auburn

Can Auburn steal a Tuscaloosa standout from Alabama?

It’s becoming likely.

Seth Williams — the 4-star WR from Paul W. Bryant High School — visited Auburn for two days over the weekend. Perhaps the most intriguing element was he arrived Friday and stayed overnight when he could’ve been at Alabama’s cookout.

Williams has since visited Alabama, so it might be looking into it too much, but the fact Williams visited Auburn for two days in favor of Alabama is telling.

That fits right in line with his analysis regarding the difficulty of leaving Tuscaloosa.

“It’s not hard. It’s one of those schools where, if you’re Tuscaloosa-born, and you want to go to Tuscaloosa, you stay in Tuscaloosa,” Williams said. “But nothing in Tuscaloosa is going to make you stay in Tuscaloosa.”

The 6-foot-4 wide receiver claims Alabama, Auburn and Ole Miss are recruiting him the hardest.

Auburn’s sales pitch stems from the need for a tall wide receiver. Williams’ strongest coaching relationship is with wide receivers coach Kodi Burns who has emphasized his desire to add a couple of lanky wide receivers such as Williams and Justyn Ross.

“He wants a big, strong, fast receiver that creates space in the open field and can run,” Williams said. “Auburn, you think of them more as a run offense, but play-action gets you open on the outside.”

Williams laid low for several months, not focusing on recruiting.

He said at Auburn’s cookout the Tigers earned his first visit of the summer, though he’s now gone to Alabama, as well.

The visit to the Plains gave Williams a feel of what to expect from Auburn.

“I came down here to see the atmosphere to see how everybody is feeling about it right now,” Williams said. “Probably just how the coaches, they’re real. They’re not going to hide anything from you. They’re family. Every time I come here, it feels like family. You just can’t get past that. It’s got to be real important. I’m not going to go anywhere where I don’t feel comfortable. I just want to feel like I’m supposed to be there. I want to be there.”

Williams hasn’t set a timeline for a decision, but he hasn’t given indication there will be something soon. He made my last 2018 class projection, and if I were doing another one now, Williams would be in it again.

Raw pass rusher sets top schools

Auburn is one step closer to landing Richard Jibunor.

The 4-star prospect from Athens Christian (Ga.) released a top 9 on Wednesday that included (in no specific order) Alabama, Florida, Auburn, Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, Louisville and North Carolina. He released the list with a teaser: “Commitment coming soon.”

Jibunor told SEC Country he plans to have a decision before his high school football season starts. With a dead period about to hit, there isn’t much more for the 4-star pass rusher to see before he makes a decision.

The big question: How hard is Alabama recruiting him?

If Alabama is hesitant, Auburn and Tennessee likely hold the edge over the other pursuing programs. In that Auburn-Tennessee battle, I give the Tigers the edge for his relationship with linebackers coach Travis Williams and defensive line coach Rodney Garner.

Jibunor is close with Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt, however, so if the Crimson Tide put on the pressure, it could become and old-fashioned Iron Bowl recruiting battle

Would be nice to get Jibunor and Seth Williams if only to steal two recruits out of the backyards of Bama and UGA. Would like to be on that side for a change.

KN put out nuggets this afternoon, he also had an insider up on Justin Fields last night. Here's some summaries

- Sounds like AU has a ton of confidence right now for 4* RB Asa Martin. KN says sources think AU feels "really good" about landing him. So does Bama. A source close to Martin says he believes he is truly torn right now. He has closer relationships with AU staff however Bama's accomplishments also stand out. He likes the plans both teams have given him and apparently Bama has convinced him he can get on the field early too. Bottom line is it's a 50/50 battle right now

- AU also feels like they are in a really good spot with 4* RB Dameon Pierce. However, KN does not think AU would take both. It might end up being a first come, first serve. The Tigers are battling UF for Pierce. There isn't a consensus with the staff on whose higher on the board. Will be interesting to see how it shakes out

- 4* LB Zakoby McClain is planning on visiting this weekend. KN says he could commit but McClain is all over the place that sometimes it seems like he's close and others like it might be awhile

- AU feels like they are very much in the race for 4* OG Trey Hill. It sounds like an AU/UGA/FSU/CLEM battle. He's visited AU at least 10 times by KN's account and has a great relationship not only with Herb Hand but with Gus Malzahn as well. He appears to be AU's top OL target. KN still thinks commit window closed on 4* OG Tank Jenkins. Louisville now the team to be but Mizzou is one to watch

- Tigers still looking for offensive tackles. 4* Dylan Wonnum is a big one but so is 4* Badara Traore. Apparently staff felt the JUCO's visit was a HR. He mentioned OM after AU visit but obviously now that might change things. LSU after him hard along with OK. No set visit schedule or commit date

- Even tho he delayed his decision, AU still likes where they stand with 4* DT Coynis Miller. His mom is tired of traveling so probably won't be anymore visits before dead period. No timetable on commit decision

- Now for all the Justin Fields stuff. AU's staff thinks Fields will wait to see a few games before announcing. They think that could be good news as a strong offensive start could really boost our chances. AU believes it's a true 3 team race tho some think UGA not FSU will be the real team to beat. Fields is really close with Chip Lindsey and has developed a bond with Malzahn as well. Source says with how much he talks to AU there's no doubt they are in the race. Most sources believe Fields is truly undecided right now

Would love for McClain to jump on board. Thought the Martin nuggets were interesting. Sounds like it's a true race. I feel like Pierce is a better system fit but man would love to beat Bama out for a kid we know they really want. Sign Martin, Miller and Ross that would be 3 straight up wins against Saban. Always fun

UGA would be such an awkward fit for Fields.

I want Pierce. Just feel like he is a better overall RB. Runs behind his pads, and is a true one cut, and take off kid. Can't be arm tackled either, and reads his blocking better than anyone else.

Don't care who bammer wants. Yes, I like to stick it to them every chance I get, but would rather have the better back!

No doubt. They don't utilize DT QBs worth a dang. Don't care who they had before, not one of them led them to anything.

To be fair the last time they actually won something was with a dual threat QB. However, Chaney has zero experience with a QB with that skill set and with two stud pocket passers on the roster it's going to be hard for him to not fall back to what he's comfortable with.

Agreed. A poster with AU connections on The Bunker says he's a silent to Bama FWIW.
