I can see it. He's long and extremely athletic. Won't contribute for probably 2 years, but has elite athleticism for an edge guy.

Don't you think we have enough of these "project", "back up" running backs already? Time for some fricking talent

No disrespect to you at all spots. I have been enough of a jerk to you & I apologize.

With that said... LMAO. Bubba Diesel says "Hi, Back up, no talent project huh? Sure wish I was leading the SEC in rushing before I was injured versus Vandy...Oh Wait. I was."

Despite the 3* rating because recruiting sites only looked at him as a full back Bubba is a stud.

I'll take another Bubba all day, every day if that's what Smoke turn out to be.

Upset that we don't have any more "hammers" like our former 3* Fullback turned RB Kam Pettway

Upset when we put a 6' 210+ LB RB on our target list that has impressed some schools recently

You mean the guy that played a entire year for us and never had a single carry? yes, Pettway is a damn beast. I love what he brings. But lets be honest with ourselves. We got lucky with him. He only started carrying the ball for us because we were out of other options. Everyone else left, got hurt or got thrown out. Then we found a gem. We didn't know if it was going to be him or Cox who was going to be the running back. That is not going to happen as often as getting talent and working with it

My point is, why the hell should a guy be "OK" with us giving a RB scholarship to the #760th player out there? We should never be OK with that.

You guys need to aim a little higher and stop being so damn content. Auburn is a fantastic college with a history of great running offenses. Our coaching staff should absolutely be able to get better talent at that position.

All Im saying. This #760 player may end up being the best thing since Don Julio. But the odds are better than he will end up being more like Mich Ultra

Curious if you have actually watched his highlights or if all you know is he's the #760 player?

FWIW I want Pierce or Martin over him my point was if the worst case happens Smoke is a solid backup option where I think we can get production. Obviously I want us to land elite talent but it doesn't always happen so it's good to know there is a solid option out there if it goes wrong. Also he holds offers from South Carolina, Florida, Kentucky and Virginia Tech. Not sure where he is on their boards but it's obvious he's on a few radars despite that low rating

Devan Barrett was around a top 150 player and top 100 on some sites.

I am looking forward to seeing him carry it some. Seems to get a lot of praise.... Only time will tell.

I admit. It was me. I silently committed, but Gus wouldn't take my commitment because he didn't want a 38 year old has been who has never played a day of football in his life.

LB notes from JLee

AU Auburn among favorites for these guys...

4* Zakoby McClain
4* Michael Harris
4* Channing Tindall
4* JJ Peterson
4* Dax Hollifield
4* Nikk Bonitto
4* Richard Jibunor

-AU wants 3-4 from the group above
-looks like a real possibility ATM

Why?

-team to beat for McClain (LSU & USCe trail)
-May be team to beat for Jibunor & Harris
-Jibunor hasn't named AU leader but sources close to him feel Tigers lead
-On HarristOSU would have first dibs but looks like they are slow playing him
-If not tOSU ZLee feels confident it would be AU

-AU likely #2 for Tindall & Peterson

-New names to the list are Bonitto and Hollifield
-Both plan to visit AU at some point & mat do it this summer
-Guys to watch in the future.

-Also still pursuing Bama commit Quay Walker
-Likely visits Auburn again in the fall, possibly summer
