I mean, I guess if he can get an academic scholarship or if his parents are loaded it's not that big of a financial issue, but it's ridiculous that his parents/coach/someone didn't tell him to shut it down for the day. He needs time to step back and reevaluate.

I don't care how good a program is, being a top 100 player and taking a gray shirt is completely nonsensical.

I'm not that sour about it because it was such a recent development but holy shite how is anyone expected to compete with Bama anymore if you can convince a kid to do that?

Its human nature. No way to avoid it. He is probably all pissed inside and is thinking he will show them when he gets to practice. He just doesn't understand where his place is.

So a top 100 kid took a greyshirt at bama over real offers from Auburn, uga, lsu, & dozens of others. Yea, bama and everyone else. Saban cant retire soon enough.

Dude could play day 1 at AU but will sit out a year for Bama. Just insane.

Still great finish by AU in pulling Bryant in. Gonna start up 2018 thread in a few hours just to make sure no more crazy stuff goes down

That's the thing, they shouldn't be able to. There should be people around him telling him that he needs to look at his other options. Hopefully he changes his mind before the end of the signing period. None of these kids should be treated the way he was today.

Didn't basically this exact same thing happen in the last couple years?

I think there's two spots left since the LS is blue-shirting. Wonder if we will fill them with some other Whitlow types.

The Eiffel Tower video probably doesn't help. He films a big reveal production in Paris and it got released... for a grayshirt.

Yes, Darius Philon, a DT from Mobile. Ended up signing with Arkansas and drafted 6th round by the Chargers.

What pisses me off more than anything is that it's grown men jerking around and screwing over 17-18 year olds. All their drama and BS not withstanding, that's despicable. They're screwing with a kids future.

Yep, Philon. Saban pulled his offer literally right before his announcement. He broke down, it was sad. Ended up at Arkansas and was damn good.

What would be really bad, considering how stacked the 2018 class is at DE, if he gets bumped again. I hope it doesn't happen, but damn if it wouldn't surprise me.

It would be awesome if he would reach out to this guy. He needs guidance and hearing from someone who had the same thing happen to him would probably be good.

AU is currently in 9th in class rankings with 255.97. That score usually puts you around the 12-13 mark. Not sure who Miami, A&M, Notre Dame & Stanford have left as those are the schools that could move ahead of us. Right now we have 4th ranked class in SEC

I am with you.

And it does not matter if he picked a different P5 school. He is thinking emotionally and not in his own best interests, imo.

Hopefully someone talks to him and he at least picks another school to go to, even if it is not AU.

Im sorry but that is on him. Im not sad about it. If he feels he needs a Eiffel Tower production to announce where he is going to college then he deserves what comes to him. Not salty because he was not really on our radar.

If he does stupid things, then I dont feel sorry for him. He made choices.

Enjoy your gray shirt and not playing college football for 2 or 3 years in the bama depth chart
