This really pisses me off. We can offer scholarship to a damn longsnapper but not to the brother of the best players in our program's history?

UGA 247 on Bryant

I am not sure how many times I have said the words “Big Cat” this weekend, but I can guarantee you it is a record if spring break ’93 was not. This looks to be simple, we have felt a few weeks that UGA is in good shape here. No doubt Auburn is WAY in this. Something tells me, his mother is more important in this than Auburn thinks. It is clear they have went after his coach as the key figure here.

I mean, I wish we would have given him a preferred walk-on spot (maybe we offered that and he didn't want it). But no reason to give him a scholarship just because of who his family is.
The long snapper is expected to actually see the field. It's highly unlikely Caylin would ever be more than a backup QB for us. Then you've essentially wasted a valuable scholarship

Has there ever been a story written by a recruiting site that doesn't say the mom is the most important person in the recruitment?
Posted on 1/29/17 at 5:33 pm to Weagle25
It's interesting because his coach even says he thinks he has bigger say than mom but hard to ignore she made trips to Athens and Baton Rouge but not AU. I honestly don't know who lands him. It seems like UGA for so long but no one seems super confident either way

Tigerpawl has given us 13 posts on 2018 athletes since yesterday. Stop flooding the fricking 2017 thread with those posts. Thanks.
Must be difficult for you one-tracked minds, eh?

Tyler Queen says hello. But he is not waving because his throwing arm is fricked, yet he got a scholarship.

This is literally the dumbest reasoning I've ever seen on this board.
We offered Queen very early on and he committed before his junior year. That was before he messed up his shoulder, and he was considered a good enough prospect that Bama and Clemson both offered before we did. Once a kid is committed it's a bad look to pull the offer.
So because we took a flyer on a kid that was actually a good prospect pre-injury in hopes that he could recover, that means we should offer a scholarship to a 5'10" QB just because he crawled out of the same womb as Cam Newton?
That's a whole new level of dumbass, even for you.

I guess I dont get the point. If Cams brother is not talented enough to play a position for us, why would we give him a scholarship? No matter who his brother is.
Does the kid have D1 talent?

Nope.

Nope. Maybe if he was taller and had more power in his arm.
Caylin isn't a bad QB, it's just that he's 5'10". He looks like a 5'10" version of his brother, basically. He's got 5'10" arm strength and has the same running style as his brother, except he's not very fast and his 5'10" frame will get tore up trying to run people over at the D1 level.

Then why is there a discussion about giving him a scholarship? Are we out of things to talk about that matter?

Hopefully they were kidding when they said we should offer

KN sorta kinda has update on Ryan Johnson. Mainly just explaining what he thinks. He is keeping CB on AU because hasn't heard anything solid enough to switch it but makes it clear that's it's a 50/50 battle right now. Both sides feel optimistic. Question he had was did Johnson take ACT/SAT multiple times to get in? If he did that's a bad sign for AU because means he really wants to get in to Stanford. KN doesn't know answer tho. For now sticking with AU

Because the TE that committed today had a picture taken on his OV with Cecil Newton and somebody speculated maybe he was around because we wanted Caylin Newton as and walk-on. I pointed out it was unlikely at this point because Caylin just enrolled early at Howard University.
For some reason this caused Brannigan to go full retard and say we should have offered Caylin a scholarship for no other reason than that he's Cam's little brother.

If Auburn didn't offer Blaise Taylor while Trooper Taylor was in Auburn and Cam Luper-Echols while Curtis Luper was in Auburn, I never imagined them offering Caylin Newton.
