We got the best QB recruit since Cam Newton, a stellar LB class, a stellar OL class and a mixed bag of borderline players that will ever up their game or fall by the wayside.

We hit our needs for the most part imo.

mark Octavius Matthews off the board.

How is that RB class looking now. If Pettway gets hurt this year, we are totally fricked again.

None of the guys other than Octavius could have been a every down back. They had better wrap Pettway up in bubble wrap.

This.

I thought the exact same thing after watching all three of the recruits' film again this week. I was most excited about Matthews.

Carlton Davis was a 3 star, right?

How you can watch Devan Barrett's film and not see an every down back makes no sense to me. We will have possibly 2 more bodies available this year than we did last (lose Truitt, gained Barrett, Williams, Davis Jr). I will eat my crow if it turns out thats not the case but I think you are really overblowing our RB depth. Alaric and Barrett both have every down back potential. Only guy I don't think has it on our roster is Kam Martin

Edit: Didn't mean to sound so argumentative lol. I think we just disagree on what an every down RB is

I didn't think Davis jr was with the team any longer. Regardless, I feel like RB is ok for now.

I'm not sure I would call Mathews an every down back. A lot of schools wanted him to play wr.

Either way, interesting move by the staff to pass on someone that could play rb/wr for what lookshe like another TE

He was a border line 3/4 star.

He was rated 89.04 on composite. Pretty sure the cut off is 89 for 4 stars

So LB tyler taylor 4 *, LB ryan johnson 4*, OL tanner 3*, the two 3 * TE/HB puts us at 24. Theres one spot left for a second WR.

Matthews averaged 80 yards a game in JUCO. He was going to be a slot guy here anyway. Never understood why he wasn't dropped when he couldn't come in January as originally planned.

Tyler Taylor is LSU and I don't think we get Johnson either

Yeah, we should recruit like Chiz did

What does this even mean? Those holes on the field that you are talking about were from development and discipline issues.
It is possible to train up high ranked players as well just as the scrappy three stars.
