Junior College Signing Day a prime opportunity for some SEC schools (SECCountry)
quote:
Auburn Tigers
The Auburn Tigers signed Jarrett Stidham, the No. 1 ranked junior college recruit in the class of 2017. This isn’t unfamiliar territory for the Tigers. They are one of several SEC schools that have found success in recruiting junior college players. The Tigers won’t have the greatest number of JUCO recruits on this list, but they’ve gotten the most bang for their buck.
The Tigers signed the top JUCO recruit in three of the past four classes, and they might be the team that has seen the most dividends from JUCO recruits. A two-year stretch of recruiting classes changed the direction of the Auburn program. In 2009, Gene Chizik signed Alabama native Nick Fairley out of Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, Miss. The following season, Cam Newton joined the Tigers. At the end of the 2010 season, Auburn had its first national championship in more than 50 seasons, and Newton and Fairley were the offensive and defensive players of the game, respectively.
Auburn’s 2009 class ranked No. 23 in the nation according to 247Sports. However, without the junior college talent, the class would’ve ranked 30th, according to the site’s class calculator.
The Tigers have had 12 JUCO recruits over the past five classes, including five in the 2013 class. Auburn added two more in Stidham and Salvatore Cannella on Wednesday.

Recap of Auburn’s up-and-down recruiting day (SECCountry)
And yes I only highlighted the ones that committed to us

Jarrett Stidham officially signs with Auburn
This was all the Auburn fan base really wanted. If others signed or announced, it would’ve been a nice perk. The majority of the Tigers world cared much more about guaranteeing Auburn’s potential quarterback of the future finalized his verbal commitment.
Stidham did that before embarking on a much-needed vacation.
By Stidham signing, it meant two things. For starters, Auburn gathered some momentum and buzz, which likely will be carried throughout the contact period in January. It also permitted Gus Malzahn and other Auburn staffers to publicly comment on Stidham’s fast-approaching arrival on campus.
Malzahn spent a significant portion of his Wednesday press conference talking about Stidham. Check out more on that here, courtesy of SEC Country’s Justin Ferguson.

Salvatore Cannella signs with the Tigers
Despite the Black miss, Auburn still picked up some recruiting steam midday. The Tigers scored their second signing of the day when JUCO tight end Salvatore Cannella picked up an Auburn hat instead of a Texas or Maryland one during a ceremony at Scottsdale C.C.
Cannella inked his paper work, and Malzahn had positive things to say Wednesday night about the former basketball player. Cannella’s route to Auburn is an interesting one.
He didn’t play football as a junior in high school, sticking instead to his first love of basketball. Cannella returned to football as a senior, but the late re-entry to the sport left him only with a preferred walk-on opportunity at Illinois State.
Cannella instead went the JUCO route, served as a part-time student as a freshman and practiced with the football team. Just from the spring practice tape, Cannella began receiving Division I attention. Auburn entered late, as did Texas. Those two rose to the top in the end.
The Tigers, ultimately, earned the inked paperwork. Stidham — I mean, whoever wins the starting job — has a big, pass-catching weapon now.

we're not running 4th for Solomon. Closer to the driver's seat. Things are falling into place for us and his recruitment.

Per Gus, Stephen Davis Jr. is not with the team right now. Not sure what that means but he said it's not injury related.

man I hope that's true
Russell/Brown/Williams/Jackson/Solomon would be a hell of a rotation at DT next season. All would be GA boys too

You forgot Malik Miller. Al.com is saying they are trying to get Malik a medical redshirt since he only appeared in 3 games.

Brennan is gonna be a beast in that system. Narcisse would be a beast in ours. If he's willing to wait we make the most sense but not sure he is. Good news is Canada has to try and sell what he could do with Narcisse not what he has done with dual threats in the past because he hasn't really used them. That should help out AU

His folks are AU fans. If it is up to them, he's going to Auburn. We're starting to win him over as well. Will be down to us, Bama and UGA. He won't go to UM, parents won't let him head that far.
