Love me some 6'7" white TEs with weird last names. And Caramel is one of maybe 5 towns in all of Indiana that isn't completely trashy.

That kid, Rice, and Harris would be a solid group considering how much we use TE.

If he ends up going somewhere else, you're the one I'm gonna blame.

Who, Chris Laye? Meh, only 6'5", not a weird last name, he sucked, and I could've sworn he just quit football because he sucked? Can't find anything about where he transferred to.

WTF are you talking about? The kid is a Redshirt Sophomore and has only played in THREE games. Sucked? GMAFB

At one point he was the only scholarship TE on the roster, so the fact that he only played in 3 games before getting passed over by a 3* true freshman and fullbacks/ OL lining up at TE should probably tell you something.

Laye was rated the #1008 player out of HS and was an arse hair away from being a 2*. Maybe it was rude of me to say he sucked, but he was not a good player and wasn't ever going to be. He was offered to fill a spot on the roster and nothing more.

Yeah, I mean the guy has one less career touchdown than Sean White.

Whoops.

Maybe he wont amount to much, but we all know Gus doesnt use the TE position like he should. Plus, that 3 star true freshman is pretty good. But again, neither saw much action last year. Doubt they will see much this year either with our FBs being so dominant

eta: sorry if i get overly upset, but it irks me when our fanbase writes off players that have only been on campus for one or two years.

Lutzenkirchen is the only true TE Gus has had to work with at Auburn.

Uzomah was definitely underutilized, but he was a WR in a TE body.

Some recruiting updates...

- 4* WR Tyjon Lindsey sets commitment date on August 22nd. He liked his visit to AU but right now looks like Ohio State/Nebraska battle

- 4* WR Henry Ruggs released top 5 of AU, AL, FSU, UF & Penn State. Bama is considered the leader right now with AU running #2. There might not be enough room for him at Bama & if so then he probably lands at AU

- Joey Gatewood is now a composite 5* on 247 & #27 nationally

regardless of how anyone feels about recruiting rankings, having a 5* QB committed will help with other 2018 recruits. Particularly a guy as active (recruiting wise) as Gatewood.

my word Jacoby Stevens' recruitment is nuts. One time LSU commit, one time UGA lock, I'd been told AU felt good about him at one point after his most recent visit, then he's a Bama lock, now he's back to an LSU lean.

Who knows if it'll stick but his next commitment will be to LSU.

KN visited 4* DE Markaviest Bryant yesterday who said AU would be 8th on his list right now. The main reason is concern over coaching stability. It sounds like the 3 DCs in 3 years negative pitch has worked on him. But did say a strong season would be big for AU in his eyes

Man Monty sucks at recruiting his family members.

I'm still pissed Muschamp decided not to recruit Clayton. He could end up a bust but we need to add some more young pass rushers in a bad way.

To me it sounds like the negative recruiting has worked on Bryant. Basically doesn't think Gus or the DC will be there next season. He did say that AU would be the team to benefit most if they were to have a good season
