I like AUCE05, he just hit me during a lull in work before a meeting

I miss it so much. It was beautiful to see that they knew what we were going to do, but could not do anything to stop it.

Pour one out for my homie.

I used this years schedule as an example. 2014, they had South Dakota State, Toledo, UCF, and Indiana. Those teams averaged over 150 yards rushing per game. Again, my point is their D gets embarrassed by good teams. The guy doesn't recruit in the south, and would be a terrible hire for us.

And everytime you reiterate your point it sounds dumber. Recruiting is the only downside but he develops 3* into POY's regularly so is it really that bad. And also, you can not pin the defensive coordinator/head coach shortcomings on a position coach.

And I am spitting back stats saying you are full of sh**. Not only is this factually incorrect to avg, the DEFENSIVE LINE & COACH are not the ones who get embarrassed when the inevitable bad game occurs anyways.

Orly? I never mentioned anything about sacks. Gene focused on that. My orginal argument was they gave up a ton of rushing yards (which the DL has a direct effect on) to us, and you guys want to hire him. That unit gives up a ton of yards to decent offenses, not just ours.

Ignoring the fact that the defense line can only do so much, total yards is a ridiculous stat. Yards per carry is better

Yards per carry for Mizzou

2008- 3.43
2009- 3.33
2010- 4.11
2011- 3.58
2012- 3.97 YPC
2013- 4.17 (3.6355 outside AU)
2014- 3.51
2015- 2.98

compare that to LSU

2008-3.4
2009-3.51
2010- 3.73
2011- 2.74
2012- 3.00
2013- 3.93
2014 4.32
2015- 4.06

He would be a terrible hire at AU. I feel like right when we hired Ellis Johnson, and this board talked about how good he was because of one decent year he had.

That would be like saying Alabama's rush defense in 2013 sucked because giving up 296 yards per game is bad.

They finished #7 in yards allowed and #15 YPC. Take out the AU game and they are #2 in yards and #5 in YPC

You may be right but his coaching ability and development is best in college football. He regularly puts out 2*/3* players and has one of the best DLs in the SEC

He would struggle recruiting but considering his knack for turning 3* into 1st RD picks all conference selection, he doesn't need to be a 5* recruiting closer.

Also, he doesn't even get the elite talent in his area. Our fanbase is not content with division titles. You have to recruit.

Except he has shown continual success and not just an anomaly year.

I'm kind of impressed with how vehemently you are arguing his resume despite how impressive it is. Kudos.

Really? Didn't Mizzou reel in 5* DT Terry Beckner Jr. #1 player in Missouri last year. Beckner chose Mizzou over USCw, LSU, tOSU, FSU, Auburn, etc

I also forgot to mention Gary Pinkel is a fantastic coach. His player development is top notch. So I would be careful giving his DL coach all the praise on sending kids to the next level. I think he had Toledo undefeated and ranked in the top 25.

So we shouldn't hire him because Pinkel is a good coach and is responsible for developing all their players? Pinkel was a OC, TE, and WR coach before becoming a HC. Clearly he has an extensive amount of experience developing defensive linemen

At some point it is ok to say you are wrong. I don't know if he would be a good fit for Auburn but the guy can coach & has a proven track record.

I'm not ready to give up on Garner though. I am seeing guys like Dontavious Russell, Devaroe Lawrence & DaVonte Lambert all get better each week. Last year stunk & we did not develop the guys up front we should have but now that we are seeing mostly guys Garner recruited & developed on the DL & things have improved. Not just getting Lawson (which is big) back but other guys are stepping up. He has a chance to pull in 4* DE Paul James, 4* DT Antwuan Jackson & possibly even 5* DT Derrick Green. I don't think he is as terrible as some believe. Now if he loses out on most of these remaining DL recruiting battles then I might join the Garner bandwagon because we HAVE to land a strong DL recruiting class this season.

I know that is not a popular opinion on the board right now as everyone seems to have made up their mind that Garner sucks
