It looks like 3* DE Kier Thomas could be on flip watch. Thomas is currently committed to FSU but it appears they've dropped communication with him. He says AU is pushing the hardest to get him and we are his #2 school. He loves Trob and Muschamp and is visiting this weekend from Friday to Sunday.
Not sure if they have higher guys on their board or what. Thomas is 6'2 250
We're also heavily recruiting Thomas's teammate 4* DB Jamel Cook.

I like his tape. He is quick off the snap. Something we currently don't have.

Adding DE Keir Thomas to targets post. To go along w/ what was said above KT is an EE.

I'm at the sign 8-10 DL that are above the necessary athletic threshold. Bonus if Mizzou recruits them
We can't evaluate so we may as well play the numbers

JUCO/Leff, Kozan, Golson, James, B.Smith
I know both looked into the NFL last year and I could fully see Avery Young leaving because he is almost definitely drafted, but would Shon Coleman? Have to think he would give it a shot given his age and he has a degree in hand.

Shon has garnered more draft hype so far this year with his play than AY. If he keeps it up vs the better pass rushers on our schedule he could be a 2nd or 3rd rounder.

Avery is likely gone... pretty sure he views himself as a senior, methought technically he's a RS JR.

Just seems weird as to where Avery Young is at about this. He clearly looks to his brother (Willie Allen) who was a late round success story and has been in the league for 8 years.
Does that make him want to test his luck or come back to improve stock? Hard to say
Fun Fact: Avery Young's cousin is Thomas Davis, Panthers LB who has been murdering people all year.

Don't know why but I've always hated how we equate eligibility with academic year. People refer to Manziel as a "Freshman Heisman winner" and Avery Young as a "Junior"
Manziel was older than Mark Ingram when he won the heisman as a "Freshman" and Avery Young may be satisfied after 4 years of school like a lot of seniors near graduation

BYW. Gene was right. We are recruiting Franklin as an Athlete & not solely a QB.

Yeah... Coleman graduated high school in 2011... Young in 2012... I doubt either will be back for 2016.

We may offer Juco QB Jerod Evans as early as today per JLee.

I fully expect both Coleman and Young to leave.

Franklin has Jason Smith written all over him. Tryout at QB maybe we hit on something, otherwise he can easily be repurposed with his athleticism

Does he have three years like smith?... if not, I'm not sure it's a good idea.
Smith had a nice game against Arkansas, but it's taken him a half a season to contribute at WR... It's a tough transition to make.

You're probably right, would be really hard to move to a completely new position w/ only 2 year.
Good think JF3 was moved to WR at FSU, appeared in a couple games and has experience there in addition to having been on FSU's track team

quote:WR is a relatively easy transition, especially in this offense. All you have to do is learn a limited route tree & be willing to block. Not a lot is asked of our WRs precission wise and that surprises me given Gus was a WR in college.
