We can't expect 4-5* talent on D right now. We need to go hard at 3* guys to build depth, and prove we can field a D. Worry about the big guys when we can prove tackling, lining up correctly, etc isn't a problem.

I disagree. If yesterday showed anything, it's that there's plenty of early playing time at Auburn.

Early playing time will always be offered by the shitty schools like South Carolina or worst. That doesn't necessarily mean a bunch of 5 stars will want to go to that school. Having the ability to offer early playing time is a curse more than a blessing if anything. I could not care less if everybody we recruited had to wait two years before they ever got got serious playing time. At that point, depth is achieved and we can process the players that are too good to give themselves up for their team.

You would think that early playing time lure would work for DEs. "You can rush the passer. I have to put 300lb DT at DE because I literally have no one else that can play."
