quote:That's a tough definitive statement to make and stand by. By all acounts before Boom was hired nobody including any of the staff had a clue where Walker was going and AU was in the thick of it. Given that being the reality of Walker's recruitment at the timre it's illogical to pin a miss on Garner there.
But before Boom, we wanted him and weren't going to get him.
quote:I don't like it either but it's pointless for a rational poster as yourself to go nega ape shite before the faxes are in. And even then still may not given the position he has us in with 3 of our top DL targets from 2016.
I just hate having to come from behind so late in the process while all of our rivals have studs racked up

You would think so. However, bama uses some "method" to pull kids that make no sense going there. Phillips Sims comes to mind...........among others.

After what they did Sims this year Bama they wouldn't waste his skill set.
Most of his yards came primarily through scrambles, and even then his rushing statistics were "meh" at best.

Definitely enjoyed the phrase and will use it again. I probably won't keep the e on shite, though.

quote:That does not matter. Just because you have an athletic QB does not mean you have to use designed run plays. Except for the under center plays Bama uses I think JJ will be used for AU in 2015 a lot like Sims at Bama in 2014. If anyone wants to believe Lane Kiffin did not get the most out of Blake Sims this year in his development as a QB then they are smoking some serious hardcore shite.

That does not matter.
"Come to __________, where we won't necessarily design running plays to fit your dual threat nature..."
quote:Like I said, it helps with the recruiting pitch and selling an offense to a dual threat quarterback. Some "dual threats" are better passers and only considered dual threat because they can beat you with both, but Jawon Pass doesn't fit that category, IMO of course. Jeremy Johnson would more so fit that category, as would Blake Barnett and Deshaun Watson.
Just because you have an athletic QB does not mean you have to use designed run plays.

I think we can all agree that Gus Malzahn would design the best offense to fit a guy like Jawon Pass, mainly because that's how his offense is and that he has done it in the past.

The coaches at Oregon are the best in the country. They weren't always top recruiters and still are no where near elite and they constantly pump out championship caliber teams.
They obviously have issues but I would never wish to play them
