You're forgetting the rest of their QBs are very raw also even being in their offense or just plain not good. Not saying he will win the job at UT as a freshman but the chances are much greater there than at AU.

If Gibson starts year 1 at UT, I swear they're going 3-8 at best.

They won't do much better with any of their other QBs anyway.

C'mon bro...you are drastically underestimating:

A) How raw Gibson is.
B) How much value there is in being in a system for 1+ years.
C) Real SEC game experience...which their other QBs have, and Gibson has none. He barely even has over 150 HS pass attempts under his belt.

Add all those factors up. If you seriously believe that Gibson as a true freshman gives them a better chance to win games in an offense that is more or less split in pass/run, then you are lost.

The result would be Kodi Burns/Kiehl Frazier esque. The others at least give them a chance to be competitive.

All I know is the QBs I saw at UT last year who did not graduate were a complete and total joke. They will have to improve exponentially to even be serviceable.

ETA: Nevermind. I thought Worley graduated. He's not great but Gibson will not beat him out.

Whew worley sucks and all the rest of their group of qbs. TG would start day 1 or the villagers would would riot.

Read an article on bleacher report (lolz) Vegas odds have us at 4/1 and UT at 3/1 to land TG. Basically said it would come down to going to UT and being the man from day 1 or going to AU where Malzahn will find a position to maximize his potential ala Cam Newton.

My whole premise is based on the fact that it sounds like he is starting to realize something besides QB might be his best option if reports of him playing WR in the camps are accurate. If enough people start telling him his future is at WR then the $$$ will start to talk.

JUCO DT Maurice Swain

quote:

Swain, who signed with Indiana out of high school before arriving at Mississippi Gulf Coast, has plenty of connections tying him to the Plains.

Two of his former teammates at Gulf Coast, Derrick Moncrief and D'haquille Williams, are already enrolled at Auburn. Two of his current teammates, Jason Smith and Tony Bridges have committed to the Tigers.

"Moncrief is like my big brother," he said. "Any time I get to play with Moncrief is good for me."

That being said, Auburn seems to be the offer he's holding out for.

"I probably would commit," Swain said when asked how an Auburn offer would affect his recruitment. "I like Auburn and just want to play for Coach Garner. He told me they're losing five (defensive tackles) and possibly eight, so they're a good chance for me to play early."
