Hopefully it's just baby fat. Assuming he redshirts, S&C should be able to reshape his body once he get to Auburn.

He's not even a Sr in high school. He'll be fine once he gets in college.

I don't see the issue with qb but I haven't been at the camps watching him pass. What are they seeing they don't like? 60% complettion percentage got us to the natty last year.

That's a maybe, either way Gibson has enough potential to let him work at QB for a few years and see if he can dominate.

As Barton Simmons said in the article linked above, Gibson has been working at WR, not QB in the Camp Circuit.

I just don't see how Gibson doesn't end up here. Gus is clearly the best coach at being innovative and finding ways to utilize players like that.

Time will tell but there is a possibility that TG could see Jauan Jennings easier to be out at UT than TQ here and choose UT. Plus UT will not have had talent like JJ and White already on campus on the depth chart.

If Gus sells him on the fact that even with the QB talent we have that we don't have a Marshall style QB to take over next year then it may not matter who else we have.

Regardless he can't win the job at AU in year 1. He can at UT.

We still have a much deeper depth chart overall than Tenn. He could possibly start as a freshman at Tenn, and be better than what they've got now. I just don't see that being the case for us.

He will have a better chance to reach the NFL under Gus than any coach at UT

He wont win it at Tennessee either. They have nobody set at QB, but their position isn't so dire that someone as raw as Gibson is going to just walk in and win the spot over guys who have been in the system...especially with Jones needing to show something in terms of win/loss. Butch Jones' offense has never been option-heavy like Malzahn has shown to implement, so its not like they're going to throw Gibson in there and have him run up and down the field either.

Assuming he ever wins the starting job here which is not a given at this point.

You're forgetting the rest of their QBs are very raw also even being in their offense or just plain not good. Not saying he will win the job at UT as a freshman but the chances are much greater there than at AU.

I am still wondering why UT isn't letting him talk to the QB coach instead of WR coach like he wants and if they are set on him being a QB there. Unless the QB coach sucks at recruiting it would come off to me that they were wanting me as something other than a QB.

It doesn't get much rawer than Gibson. I see virtually zero likelihood that Gibson with zero playbook knowledge is a better option to win games as a True Freshman than someone they already have on roster...whether its Ferguson, Wortley, or Dobbs. Those guys cant all be complete scrubs, regardless of what they showed last year.

It would be one thing if Jones ran a zone/read option offense at which point you could argue that Gibson's running ability may be able to win them games that the others wouldn't...but his offense isn't like that. Their strength on offense is their receivers...the QB that will play is the one that can get them the ball. True Freshman Gibson is not that QB.
