4* LB Richard McBryde was invited and accepted yesterday to be in the Under Armour AA game for next January and will be at A-Day Per Hoke.

Warmack will visit AU again this week. Apparently he isn't too impressed with Bamas Online. He said they didnt look very good in the scrimmage he watched

thats what happens when you hire a "gun for hire" recruiter only like Cristobal to be your OL coach. The guy can't coach for a lick but can recruit his tail off. You're seeing exactly that in the Bama OL.

He had that rep at other places as well. I was surprised Saban hired him. As much as I can't stand him, with the empire he has built and already great recruiting he needed a developer especially at the OL.

Totally agree. His program sells itself. If he were smart, at this point he'd hire the best tacticians he could find at every coaching spot to coach up his legions of 5* he has on campus. Hiring great recruiters is pointless at this point. Tosh Lupoi is a mediocre coach, so he'll be useless at Bama.

You think that experiment will end well? I can see it "working" for a while, but I just think Kiffin's ego will win out and he blows up somehow. I am hoping anyway.

Case in point. Saban has been the man before, but he seems to be making all of the wrong hires lately. I, personally, love it!

Kiffin is a mediocre playcaller. He's never been very good at it. He rode Sarkisian's coat-tails calling plays at USC under Carroll. He sucked at Oakland. He sucked as a HC at USC calling his own plays.

Indeed. And even at his best he's more suited to a pass-first offense, pro-style be damned. I can see him trying to get cute with the play calling when he should just be slamming it up the middle.

yep. He's an awful fit for Saban. Kiffin's fullbacks have gotten 30-40 catches before, for God's sakes. That's ridiculous.

Don't think they were ever really going after him. Our biggest threat was always supposed to be Arkansas IIRC. He's got some connection to a coach over there.

nope. UGA and Bama have been the biggest threats for him.

Only way he'd end up at Arkansas is if UGA, AU and Bama all passed on him.

I haven't heard the greatest things about his talent ceiling

IMO, he's a backup Guard that could contribute later in his college career. I can't see him as a top tier G in the conference. He just doesn't appear to be very agile.

He seems better than some we've taken recently. Mix and Slade for example.

All of our OL targets, minus a select few, seem to be pretty lowly/averagely ranked. It's a little strange to me. I know our coaches aren't going off rankings, but you'd think the guys that a team like us, who has a great OL, is going after would get more respect in the rankings

projecting HS OLs to college is the biggest crapshoot of any position... aside from the absolutely obvious can't miss kinda guys, who the hell can tell the difference in a high school left guard from Texas compared to a right guard from Tennessee?... or a guy who's play LT for his high school team in South Carolina?

eta: technique of a high school OL is overrated... just look at greg robinson. He got beat a bunch in high school b/c he was so underdeveloped technique wise. IMO, take the most athletic of the bunch, redshirt them to remake their bodies, then unleash them on the world.

Tyler Carr's athleticism doesn't fit that mold.

I like athletic OL. Any idiot can be taught hand techniques and blocking schemes, not every idiot can be taught how to run with 300 pounds and have an initial punch that throws people to the ground
