Chizik's second recruiting class looked really strong (on paper) and it was said it was because he had the time to develop relationship. Now the talking point is that this staff has not had enough time to develop relationships
For real. Bump that noise. The reason for the slow recruting start is 2012 season IMO. These kids want to make sure Malzahn isn't Chiz 2.0.

only 4 OL? SMH
quote:No inner homer there. Everybody is picking us to lose the heads up battles right now with UF. He is just relaying the info he is getting. Ro is a bad example as the pick if not AU now is him to UGA
I think it's funny he doesn't think we will land anyone who we are battling UF for like Roquan, Holland, etc. Neibuhrs inner homer comes out sometimes.
I see it's negabarners unite mornin on the rant and that's fine but this class is not nearly as disappointing as some are making it out to be. If Payne is in it it's a top 5 class (better than last year on paper) using class calculator and last year's final totals. Even without Payne it's still a top 8 class. Looking at composite rankings it may not be as top heavy as last years class. Last year's class had 3 5*s and 10 4*s. This class even without Payne would have 0 5*s but 16 4*s in it and guys like Stanley, Sharp, and Edwards primed to move up in rankings. If that were the class minus Payne we could be looking at 19 out of 24 signees being 4*s. I'll take that all day, every day!

we hear you the first time you posted this.
the staff has certainly had the last 16 months to develop relationships with the 2015 recruits... doesn't change the fact that they've had longer relationships with most of our competition.
There was an exceptionally low number of turnover amongst the major southern football teams last year... that's gonna change though... and when it does, Auburn will be the one with the longer relationship.

Just because he doesn't pick us doesn't mean he's being a UF homer.
Roquan has been leaning UGA
Holland has been leaning UF
Both of those were known to anybody that doesn't have O&B glasses on.
This mock class is pretty much how I see it shaking out. His last one was Homerish for us.

how would a mock 2014 class have looked in april of last year?
these things are designed for discussion and clicks... little more than that. It's interesting, but odds are it will look a whole lot different in 10 months.

I don't know how would it look? I just saw one for the 2014 class in July and it looked like a majority of them ended up in our class. Rankings of some of the guys drastically changed but there were only 5-7 guys that we didn't get.
If someone could find one from last April, it would be interesting to see.

A mock class last April would have had us signing Casher & Evans. It wouldn't have had Roberts, Bessent, Russell, Lambert, or Braden Smith, I'm willing to wait & see.

I seem to remember our class being very meh at this point last year, as far as what it projected to be. Lots of guys ended up blowing up Sr year, and we obviously got in on some solid talent later on. Let it play out.

It probably would've had Roberts on it. I think we led going into the summer.

What is going to happen when UF sucks again this season and Muschamp is fired? Kurt Roper is not the savior that program needs.

Which is why I said these kind of things are ridiculous. Yeah, I know it's for discussion, but it's a pretty pointless discussion 10+ months out, imo.
I don't think Florida will be as bad, but I don't think they'll win any more than 7 or 8 games.
If we make another run this year and this staff proves it's not a one and done like the last one, we'll start winning some of those battles.

Per AUC, WR Jayson Stanly has 3 standing out. AU, UGA, & Clemson. He plans to visit AU for practice Thursday and for A-Day the following week. Plans to visit UGA for their Spring game this Saturday.

I've had the feeling for a while we will have a really good class but will finish 2nd and several top guys that could have really put us over the top. Hopefully I'm wrong and we can steal a couple of them.
UF and UGA having down years would help, particularly if Muschamp gets fired.

Freaking out about our class in April is comical. The earliest time you can even think about having an idea about the class is after BCW, but even then it's still a crapshoot. We're gonna be alright
Posted on 4/7/14 at 2:28 pm to AMM AU9893
Exactly...I have noticed the depression for some of our fans comes earlier and earlier each recruiting season...
Posted on 4/7/14 at 2:34 pm to AMM AU9893
Saying the class is looking less than spectacular is not freaking out.
Posted on 4/7/14 at 2:41 pm to Weagle25
It's not what you say, but the way it is said that tells me some are freaking out. I can see the sweat stains on their posts...
That is a true story.

Meh. I see disappointment but nobody's melting. But arguing about people emotions and convincing people that our recruiting class will be better in Feb. Is pretty pointless anyways.
God we need some real recruiting news...

Isn't that what this is all about here, we all are making pointless comments and arguments. How fun is this?
