The above may change things but per multiple sources we are done in this class and plan to save the open scholly for the next class.

Well, yeah. Things always change when a former top 20 player becomes available

2016 PG commit Jared Harper was named co-MVP of the Peach Jam Championship Game along with Wendell Carter, the #3 overall player for the c/o 2017.

Harper had a game high 33 points and 8 assists while leading his team to a 28 point rout of a St. Louis AAU team led by #3 overall c/o 2016 player and Duke commit Jayson Tatum.

Pretty sure Jareds team is playing on ESPNU right now (replay). I think he's #1.

It's coming back on at midnight central time.

I like a PG who can score. Hopefully we can hold onto him if he starts to blow up.

I don't care if he blows up, as long as he signs in the fall before that happens

It looks like Zach Allison is the addition to the White Caboose after losing both Thompson and Purchase.

BTW, has anyone seen the official youtube video we made about the White Caboose LINK? I hope it doesn't die after last season. Keim and Stockton can keep it going.

I don't believe Keim is going to keep playing from what I've heard, but that may have changed.

Decent article from AuburnSports. Pearl goes into detail about the progress and expectations of each player and a few other issues as well.

Differences from this time last year?
"Last year, everybody was unknown. I had 13 brand new guys. So, I have a better idea of what we have. I also have a better idea of what our competition is. From that standpoint, I feel like we are ahead of where we were. Last summer, I spent a lot of time working with in development of our program because I wasn't able to recruit. Now, we are doing both, and we are making progress in both areas. I think practices are a little further ahead in the sense that last year in the summer time, we were introducing all new concepts. Half the team has run our offense and run our defense and understands the language and terminology. We are just a little further ahead of where we were last summer."

On your outlook for the team this season
"Last year was about survival. Last year was about avoiding a disaster. Last year, it was about trying to give KT (Harrell) and Malcolm (Canada), those two seniors, an opportunity to compete. We weren't able to win enough games, but we certainly made progress ... probably more off the court than on. We had some great league road wins. Beating Xavier at home was special. Then, of course, the run in the SEC Tournament was historical.

"This year, I'd like to be which I hoped to be last year and that was to compete for the upper division. That was my goal coming in because if you could compete for the upper division of the league than you were putting yourself into position to competing for postseason. Our league is changing so fast. For example, we arguably have had as good as a recruiting class that Auburn has had in many, many years, but that class could rank sixth or seventh in the league this year because of just how strong our league is getting.

"I am really glad that I am at Auburn, and I am really glad that I am at Auburn at this time because when we are successful and competitive, it will be at a time when the league was at a very strong point. Any team, we are getting closer to a point like it is (in the SEC) in football or softball or baseball or gymnastics or men's golf ... where if you are not really strong, you are going to get dominated. Auburn has made a real commitment to men's basketball with this facility, with this coaching staff and the support that we receive, and I am going to take that commitment and I am going to get us where we will be in the upper division of our conference. I think we can do it this year."

On Auburn's roster
"KT Harrell. How do you replace the leading scorer in the SEC? How do you replace a guy who puts God first? How do you replace a guy who lives the example that you want to set? How do you replace a guy who cares more about his team than himself? How do you replace a guy who cares about Auburn more than anybody else? It is going to be hard. Late in the year, he was as good as anybody in the league. Everybody saw that at the SEC Tournament down the stretch.

"With Antoine (Mason), KT, K.C. (Ross-Miller) and Malcolm (Canada), we had four senior guards. It is a guard's game. While we are excited about our roster, you have to keep in mind that we lost four senior guards. That's going to be really, really hard to replace, but where we will be a little different is that we may not be able to shoot it as well as KT, Antoine, KC and Malcolm did, but we will be bigger, longer, a little faster. I think our tempo will be up. It will be Auburn Fast as opposed to last year, we kind of grinded it out a little bit because that is how we were built.

"Kareem (Canty) has a chance to have a great impact this year. His talent level is clearly in the top two or three guards in our league as far as running the point. He is a scoring point. He is fast. He is athletic. He can really make plays for himself and others. I think he has a chip on his shoulder. He is coming from New York City and Harlem, going to Marshall and not the Big East. I think he is anxious to jump on the set.

"New Williams is a high-flying athlete who has a tremendous work ethic and a great discipline and just wants to be great and work to be great. He is still a year out from his ACL. Not at a 100 percent from that standpoint, but another guy who can play point and off the ball because he can really shoot it. He is a terrific on the ball defender.

"Bryce Brown is going to be our version of a sleeper. He didn't have a lot of SEC offers, and he was a guy who came to my Elite Camp and really impressed me. Once I was able to get out and do some evaluating, I just disregarded his level of recruitment, his 3 star rankings. He has a great body, great size for a combo and a great stroke. He has a chance to be one of the best shooters that we have had. He has a chance to be a great shooter here. Timing is pretty good for him in that we lost KT and Antoine, so he has a chance. I'm very excited about him jumping in. He has a lot to learn defensively but is very willing.

"TJ Dunans is another combo. Probably size-wise, he is more of a natural wing. He is a very productive player from a standpoint that he can put it on the floor. He can create, score on the basket. He's a good passer. He doesn't have the stroke that Bryce has, but he is more of a scorer. He can score and make shots. When you come from junior college, the level of training, the level of discipline, the level is just different. So how quickly he can adjust to the physical demands of high major Div. I basketball - the weight room, the academic requirements, everything will determine how quickly he can ... He gets off the floor quick, first jump, second jump, third jump ... he just plays above the rim. He gives us a little bit more experience as a wing player.

"Horace (Spencer) is a great kid. He wants to get better. He is a high level athlete. His defense is ahead of his offense right now. He plays big for 6-foot-9. He has a great wing span, a great motor. He will defend the rim. That is one thing that we struggled with last year, and he will defend the rim. He will block your shot, and he will throw you into next week and foul you. He is very active. He is a great rebounder and has a surprisingly soft touch. We will work with him offensively. He has good hands and great feet. He is a really good one.

Continued:

"Tyler (Harris) is mature beyond his years. Trains like a pro and is disciplined kid. God is first. He has a chance to be a little bit like KT in that regards. He has been to the NCAA Tournament every year that he has been in college. He has been productive. He will be that stretch four man. He will be a tough matchup. I will ask him to do some of the things that I asked Malcolm to do, and Malcolm was 6-foot-2. Tyler is going to do it at 6-10. He and Jordon are really going to battle for that position and together, they are going to be awfully effective at that position.

"Jordon, being a senior, has a very strong personality on our team. He is a very good leader. He loves Auburn and what Auburn has done for him and knows his role. He can really stretch the defense. He is very athletic. He is an unselfish person and an unselfish player. He just wants to win. Together, they will make a pretty formidable four man.

"Cim (Bowers) can always move around different spots on the front line. He is an undersized center. The closer he gets to the basket, the better he looks. He is a double-double guy. The thing with Cim is just being more productive. For example, last year, he shot 48 percent from the foul line. I think he is shooting mid-70s this year ... just finishing plays, improving his assist-turnover ratio and shooting a higher percentage. Last year, Cim had to end possessions for us. KT, Cinmeon and Antoine were the three guys in that order who finished possessions for us. Cim had to force the issue a lot because there just wasn't as much to go with him. There will be more to go with him this year. The question will be will he be more productive? To garner the minutes and role that he garnered last year, he will have to. I think when he is playing with better players, if he will continue to have that playmaking mentality and not put himself in bad spots, he will make more winning plays and we will be better and so will he. He physically can do some things ... I want him to play like Draymond Green. Why can't he play like Draymond Green?

"TJ Lang made a ton of progress last year. He gained respect of his teammates last year because his teammates had more confidence in him than he had in himself. TJ improved defensively at a point where early in the season, he couldn't guard anybody and late in the year, we were putting him on the opponents' best player and he loved it. Obviously, he is a great shooter and can really stretch the defense. He has the size to play multiple positions. I'm committed to recruiting the best players in the state of Alabama because this is the State of Auburn. When we can take a guy who some people didn't think could play at this level, and when he started and by the time that he gets done, he could potentially be an all-conference player by the time that he is a senior, that is special.

"The thing that I've asked from Trayvon (Reed), we have to keep in mind that Trayvon is 20 years old. He was a 7-foot-2 inch freshman last year. While I want more from him, and I want him to train harder, and I want him to push himself more, and I don't want him to settle. I also want him to be patient. He has a very strong upper body. His lower body needs work. At his size, he should be much more of a factor defensively. As he trains and conditions, I want to see what Trayvon is going to be like in a year. He helped us last year. He will help us this year. My question is can he dominate a year from now and will he train that hard and will he be patient because if he does, he has a chance."

On playing your style with more depth this year
"We should have more depth. We should have more length, and that will allow us to be more diverse defensively. More pressure, a little bit more zone. With the shot clock down to 30 seconds, our pressure could be even more effective. Like Nolan Richardson was 40 minutes of hell, and he was going to be that way year-in and year-out, I'm a 94-foot system coach. We will always press, but I am also going to ... I'm not always going to have the speed or athleticism to press every opponent 40 minutes, but we will definitely pick our spots. We will make more offense from our defense this year than we did last year. We will create more turnovers, and our field goal percentage defense will be much better."
