Is Avery Young a candidate to move to LT and have the other guys fight over the RT or is Avery expected to stay on the right?

From what I read young stays at right and pat miller and shon fight it out for left tackle

Man I hate to say it but I think Miller, unless he improves considerably, is such a downgrade from what we had. Really hope Shon or Diamond can win that spot.

was miller that bad this year?... i honestly don't remember. and you can't judge him based off of 2012 when he started as a TF.

According to Malzahn:
-Young staying at RT
-Miller/Coleman battling at LT
Diamond is a G and won't compete for a T spot.

Diamond is a Guard. Can't see him at tackle. He honestly isn't as athletic as Miller or Young or Coleman. Diamond is a monster on the interior though.

Our line will not drop off much..if at all. Even losing GRob we are still stacked at the position.

Don't know why people liked this idea of Diamond at OT so much. No indication of that
Patrick Miller will be good once he gets to weight. That is his huge problem. He simply can't get there. I know at least at the start of the season Russel circles his target weight on the board in the weight room. Think it was sub 300 too
For people who know more about OL than me, with Gus' system for offense, are the intricacies of left and right tackle as big a deal as in say a pro style ? Seems like our run offense is pretty solid going both directions

You don't lose a first round talet without some type if drop off the next year.

You have a drop off at LT but having returning starters at LG and RT who also won't be in their teen years for the first time, a rimington finalist at OC, a returning senior and 3 yr starter at RG will pick up the slack and push past where we were last year
Don't forget we have a returning RT starter in the SEC competing for that LT spot so it won't be as big a drop off as you think

returning 5 of 6 OL who started games in 2013... miller has over a season's worth of starts when you factor in 2012 and the beginning of 2013.
Robinson was a physical freak and will be missed... but i think we can maintain the level of success. The interior guys are what really made the running game click.

Coleman still had the ability to be the best of the bunch. His natural ability is off the charts. I remember coaches saying last summer that he was able to do things that made them just say wow. Sure he still has a lot of development and conditioning left, but he has the ability to be special. Let's not forget that he was athletic enough to be brough in as a FB some.

We will be solid at every spot on the line. especially in the middle..they will be a bunch of maulers. We should be just as good running the ball next year.

One of Shon or Patrick will do a good job. Patrick got back in the staff's good graces by finishing the season strong in bowl practices and stepping up his work in the gym. Spring practices should decide it

quote:True, but more than anywhere else, OL plays as a unit. There may not be any one player at any position that can match GRob's combo of physical talent and skills, but we have an excellent chance of being better along the LOS overall in '14.

Which would be pretty scary for opposing defenses.
ETA: Who are we grooming to replace Dismukes at C in '15? I know Faryike subbed when RD was out being stupid in '12, but is he still considered the top backup at the position?

Think it may be Kozan sliding to Center when Reese leaves.

Or more likely JUCO signee Dampeer after a redshirt year.

That's my opinion. Usually you don't take a JUCO Center for depth

Plus Kozan is a got-damn beast where he's at.
No reason to move him unless you have no other adequate choices available.
