Casher wanted to commit, but wanted to wait so he could go to the bama-lsu game. didn't sit well with coaches.

Then he straight up committed to Auburn on thursday, told to come to Auburn this weekend and talk to Gus, he considered himself an Auburn commit.

Casher agreed to all the terms but the staff still didn't accept the commitment. Talked to Roc Thomas and Tre Williams and they understand Auburn's stance.

If all this is true, it sounds to me like someone around Casher that knows him on a regular basis told the coaches that they didn't like something about him trying to commit. I wonder if one of the recruits tipped them off to a gut feeling that he was still leaning Bama?

If we'd gotten Mckenzie Alexander @ CB last year with our class, besides Roc/Tre/DQ I wouldn't even care who we get recruiting-wise. Truitt will be insane.

After getting big body Burton, just want a couple safeties, a CB, and one OL. The rest will be icing on the cake and you know with this staff, esp CDC, theyre going to go get a couple high-star big boys and get our fair share.

Just look at Marcus Davis, did anyone see him contributing this early? I didn't but there's plenty out there like that. I'm not worried.

Sorry Josh, best of luck.

Problem is I don't see where the couple of safeties and one OL is going to come from. Maybe a target will pop up later but right now I'm worried about those spots.

I think next years recruiting class will be much better than this one with the staff having extra time to build relationships and the success we're having on the field.

I would rather the coaches let the recruits know now that they aren't going to play games (which I think all schools should do). I like Gus taking a hard stance on recruits flirting with Bama. We will be fine without a Casher for a year or 2 with RD coming back and XD being a JC. We have gotten plenty of hype from the season despite what Bama has done and next year will be the same.

Then what's the problem?
SIAA but The staff was not buying it plus per Hoke in another post Casher said something in the meeting Saturday that basically made things irreconcilable although Hoke could not share what was said.

Looking at Hoke's story, this is pretty ridiculous. You hae to be right E about Casher saying something because none of this lines up.

I was told by someone that "all the stops" were pulled out for Josh Casher and they made a huge deal about him coming this weekend to impress him. The staff didn't enter the weekend (or the environment they made didn't represent) their uneasiness

This is definitely a shot across the bow for most recruits though. Definitely will indicate to them the classic do not frick with us

Also, looks like we miss on Casher's brother Darius Whitfield out of St Paul's. Supposedly he is better and bigger than Casher and is class of 2016

Good point but I wouldn't be surprised if he called them to see if he had a spot and was told only if he committedon the spot

yep... that certainly makes you wonder about the whole situation. I think it's perfectly reasonable for our staff to expect Casher to shut things down after committing back to us (considering how it all went down the first time). I don't wish him any hard luck or anything, just wished it could've worked out differently.

I'm not particularly worried about OL recruiting... but we need to avoid a depth issue for 2016 and beyond. You recuit OLs today to fill needs 3+ years down the road. Since Gus has arrived, we've signed one high school OL and currently have none committed.

I was told we were expecting to add him. Hearing multiple stories. One involves a phone call and the other is along the lines of what E said.

Just glad this is Casher and not our other Mobile commits.

Ok. Unless it's coming from Casher, you never know for sure.

No, not true.

he's still no more than a Guard prospect. Those honestly grow on trees. Is he very good, yes. Will we be able to find someone just as good, yep.

How did the staff know he was playing games and is there anything to worry about with Tre?

I mean, is it for sure that Casher if he was committed would have flipped or Were we not taking the chance and he didn'tagree to our stipula tions

I mean as Isaid earlier and hoke is reporting as well, we wwerepulling out the stops and excited about him coming

Everyone is reporting that the staff talked with Roc and Tre and told them what happened. Sounds like they didn't screw Casher so don't think it matters much. Sucks to have a bama recruit in Tres ear though

Eta: secretly hoping this is the most elaborate planned recruit flip of all time

I can also see Kozan moving over to play center , if needed.

I'm sure we will target a big time center in next years class.

I'm not worried about Tre or Roc. Bama's class is pretty much done anyways. Casher can't flip Tre.
