How would the coaches know for sure if Casher was going to "pull a Yeldon"? I don't understand that at all, and I don't buy it.
So you didn't pay attention to the Liner drama last year then?

But I have a real hard time believing Casher wanted to commit and Gus didn't take him because he knew he'd eventually switch to Bama.
There are ways to find out. The staff caught on last year w/ Liner remember.

Not really. I didn't pay attention to Liner hardly at all because he always seemed to be going to Bama.

Word on the Bunker is that Freeze tipped Gus off.

Point blank, Gus Malzahn told Dee Liner to take a hike.

You serious, Clark?

Also, if anybody could summarize the summary of what our Rivals site (Hoke and JGT) said about the situation in The Bunker, it would be greatly appreciated.

Because this is nuts.

Casher wanted to commit, but wanted to wait so he could go to the bama-lsu game. didn't sit well with coaches.

Then he straight up committed to Auburn on thursday, told to come to Auburn this weekend and talk to Gus, he considered himself an Auburn commit.

Casher agreed to all the terms but the staff still didn't accept the commitment. Talked to Roc Thomas and Tre Williams and they understand Auburn's stance.

Weird recruitment. I like the fact that the staff doesn't seem to play games like members of the last staff did.....

Then what's the problem?

Thanks for the summary, BTW. Just thinking out loud above, but it's pretty apparent that there's one specific thing that turned the coaches off pretty quick.

It sounds like the coaches didn't trust him still.

Yeah. Well, whatever. I'd love to have Casher, but as long as he doesn't take Tre Williams with him, I'm good. I'd rather lose Casher because quite frankly, if Williams were to not sign with Auburn, I'd probably just give up on our LB recruiting altogether.

Looks like they felt better about taking Xavier Dampeer knowing he is coming than taking Casher and risk losing both. Apparently, Casher wanted to keep flirting with Bama and Gus cut him loose.

If this is true, why not let him be a silent commit and sign on NSD? What does it hurt if he flips to Bama if he's a silent commit? It's not like we're tight on numbers.

Do they just flat out lie to Dampeer?

Never know for sure. I don't see any negatives coming out of it. Let him be a silent, recruit like he's not committed.

Why would they need to lie to him? Tell Dampeer he's who they have lined up to replace Dismukes and Casher is lined up to replace Dampeer when he's gone.

Ok. Unless it's coming from Casher, you never know for sure.

According to Hokanson, that possibly could've been an issue. Either way, judging from the long post he made about it, they didn't trust Casher at all. Bama has tried to burn us with one every year it seems.
