Seems like that's mainly because Bama's been winning but if we have a decent season, we could move ahead based on future potential?

I think everyone realizes a solid to good season is very important for future recruiting.

If he does not come it's not a good sign.

Sawyer, McDowell, and Ruffin confirmed

We seem to be stockpiling TEs.

Well we're gonna play an h-back and a TE/blocking WR split out most of the time. We have 1 Sr (Prosch), 2 Jrs (Fulse/Uzomah) and 1 rFr (Parks) on the roster now, so we definitely need to stockpile to some degree.

We really don't have that many. We didn't sign one last year IIRC, so we needed 2 this year. Plus, Mitchell will be able to do a variety of things, while Laye seems to be a blocker

I really hope the rumors about Laye having attitude issues are just internet BS. If only the football team were still allowed to haze the freshmen the way they need to be.

I could see Mitchell developing into a weak side DE... He's got the frame to add a lot of weight.

With his hands and speed, he's gonna play offense, He's the ideal HB for Malzahn

Agreed, he provides a lot of versatility with his size and speed on offense.

I have a friend whose little brother knows him from Atlanta. When I am back in town I will ask him about Ruffin if Ruffin hasn't committed before then

This ^ Mitchell is the prototypical "Oregon" style TE that I've been longing to see in a Gus Malzahn system.
