Bottom line is your premise that QB is not a priority, or should only go after a back up is wrong. You go after the best QB you can get. You always need a QB in the funnel either playing, or preparing to play.

It is unreal the RB talent Bama keeps getting especially this last class. Tyren Jones, Henry, Tenpenny, Kamara. Do you think Saban only goes after a solid back up running back in 2014? Hell no, they could very well pull in 2-3 more top RB's.

ETA: Just watched Watson's highlight video. Holy shite he looks good.

What in the world does "the culture" have to do with Frazier being inaccurate on every throw and staring at the pass rush rather than his receivers?

Chizik was a terrible HC. We all know that. But I really don't think Frazier playing scared and curling up in a ball anytime he felt pressure has anything to do with "the culture."

Right now, Frazier isn't an SEC QB. Maybe the comfort level in Malzahn's system will help him out some, but there's still going to be a pass rush, and nobody else can throw the ball for him.

If he doesn't improve his pocket awareness and accuracy, Frazier will be 3rd or 4th string midway through fall camp.

I personally think Marshall or Johnson wins the job.

If you don't think the atmosphere and playing conditions under a coaching regime play no part in how kids perform, than you are kidding yourself. However, with that said some of Frazier's problems went way beyond that in some areas. I will give you this though, special players rise above the negatives and succeed no matter what.

Nothing. Forget it. Totally off the mark. You're right, I'm wrong. Forget I even said anything.

I'm not counting on it, but maybe Frazier will be one of these guys. I'd be a great story if he is one.

Anyone want to do a project scholarship breakdown of our team in 2014? This whole sign and place/losing his counter/signing spot thing could be overrated if we are in a number crunch on the 85 scholarship limit

We have to take 1-2 QBs a year and one will always be a high priority regardless of his recruiting service ranking.

1 QB a year only puts us at 4 QBs on the roster on average. That isn't that much and considering busts, leaving early for pros (lulz), general attrition, injury or anything else like that, anything less than 1 QB a year is unreasonable.

We took (3) QB's this year (probably down to 2 after Smith moves to WR). I could see us taking (1) QB next year and maybe (2) the following year.

We desperately need LBers and DT's and DB's.

Frazier and Marshall, Wallace, JJ and Smith

That is only 5 QBs and likely that Smith moves to WR like you said. That will keep us at that 4 scholarship QBs per year which is what we need.

Don't disagree but taking a QB shouldn't mess with those numbers unlesss we do not have good roster management and recruiting

I imagine we'll take 2 every year, 3-4 some years if you count the Jason Smiths of the recruiting world.

Not sure you can ever say you don't need to get a QB. I can see going after the top QB's only in a given year and if you miss out maybe you can get by. We do need LB's for sure and 2-3 DTs next year. Jones we play the 4-2 as a base package, but does Ellis throw other packages like the 4-3 when we would need 3 legit LB's in?

D-Linemen and DBs will become our biggest priority on defense...

If you look at the best players they've had at USCe since CEJ went there, their defensive stars were D-linemen, SPUR, and CBs....

And quietly, he put LOTS of players in the NFL over the past 5-6 years.

I won't complain if he puts a lot of players in the NFL at Auburn. He can do it quietly or he can be loud as hell idc.

Look at all these DB's he's put in the NFL from USCe:

Sheldon Brown, Jonathan Joseph, Dunta Robinson, Chris Culliver, Stephon Gilmore, Captain Munnerlyn, Darien Stewart, Antonio Allen, Emanuel Cook...

Munnerlyn and Stewart are from Alabama...

So apparently Stephen Roberts outta OHS is a pretty high-profile recruit? Alabama offered today and Hoke is making it sound like there could be some more big offers coming as well.

And it looks like Auburn offered Jakell Mitchell as well, a TE out of Opelika

Rivals has one on Jakell already, this is the best I could find for Roberts right now

I believe Hoke said both will be at AU's Junior Day next week. Sounds like Roberts would be all AU if we offered him.
