I'd feel better about it if it came from BMatt, Keef, the TAMU, and TCU 247 reporters.

Yeah definitely. It also probably helped that we have some real in state blue chippers like Roc, Tre, and hopefully Evans. No need to leave the state for those positions this year.

Agree with that, I'm sure you'll see guys like Ruffin,Bessent,Mitchell, etc on special teams next year.

gotta think tcu is going to be hard to beat out... smith seems like a quiet kid... having his sister in school there and being closer to home will make things tough for us.

D'haquille definitely starts. Moncrief possibly. Other than that I don't see anyone starting right off the bat. Possibly Roc by the end of the season.

Word is Braden wants to get away from home. I am not sure where TCU falls in that spectrum though.

I have a sneaky feeling Ruffin contributes the most from the freshman DBs, especially if Holsey does not move back to CB from Safety.

Ft Worth is still a long way from Kansas... wherever he chooses, he'll be at least two states removed from home. I just meant that it's more of the midwest feel he's accustomed to.

but who knows... could be way off on that.

I think he and Roberts will both have a chance to get in the two deep to begin the season and then it depends on their play of course.

Everyone agree with this? Where do you see Evans fitting in?

I realize they're recruiting him for star but I can't imagine a guy like that bench warming. Would they possibly rotate him with Cass?

Wouldn't be surprised if they moved Garrett back inside to LB and mostly rotated Therieze and Evans at Star.

(If we land Evans that is)

Contribute Early:
Truitt

I think he'll redshirt. He's going to be playing what Louis and Bray play, so I don't see him jumping those two next year.

My definition of contribution is playing outside of special teams and trash time. He may play, but nothing considerable. I think Ford also gets moved back to speed back behind Grant, where Truitt may eventually see some touches.

I'm also not convinced Roc makes much of a contribution early.

Not sure how the DL will shake out with the 3 juco guys coming in. I think one of Stuckey or Lawrence will redshirt. We're going to be very deep at DT next year - Wright, Blackson, Adams, Bradley, Whitaker, Nero, Niles and maybe Daniel moving inside. Daniel and Lambert will probably play both DE and DT in different situations. I think the redshirt of one of those other DT's will depend on where Nero and Niles are in their development.

True. That's about an 8 hour drive. Auburn would be around 11 or so. I have to think 3-4 hours drive time wouldn't be the deciding factor on where he'd end up going to school.

I really hope we get him, because we need to get a good high school OL in to start developing for when this current group is gone in another year or two.

There is a post I agree with on TOS that speaks to this and the difference between Auburn and Bama recruitment.
quote:

Evans knows he is not big enough right now to play at uat. He would redshirt this upcoming year at uat, play special teams and back up a JR or senior next year and start as a redshirt spoh his 3rd year.

Evans would play on special teams and backup the "Star" position at AU next year and play a lot on 3rd and long rushing the passer. Get a lot of experience his freshman year at AU and start year two. Learn to become a versatile player with coverage skills, run stopping skills and pass rushing skills to take to the next level. And have an opportunity to play alongside Tre if he wants to gain the weight to play OLBer. It will all be up to Evans. So i'm told that is how AU is recruiting Evans.

Johnson has had quite a few stars who did not have the hype of Evans make it to the league from South Carolina any Therezie will likely go from benchwamrmer to getting drafted somewhere if he improves even more

I find it hard to believe that they can sell angles we can't.

bama is pumping LBs into the league at a crazy rate right now... EJ has a solid background in his own right, but it doesn't come close to the LB factory in tuscaloosa.

even their sh*tty ones (who couldn't tackle nick marshall or mason if their lives depended on it) are getting third round grades... it's crazy...

Pretty sure every star position player that played under or recruited by EJ and eventually played under Ward went to the league. As in pretty sure nearly all Spurs from USCe in the past 6isb years have been nfl bound

I think Rudy Ford may end up pulling a sneak attack and get serious time at RB if he moves back. Reminds me of The Abdullah story with his talent. Kid is a legit 6' and if you ask me taller. I stood next to him the other day and he easily had an inch on me and I measure between 5'11-6' (and claim 6')
