If you want to game RPI, losing an away game against a team that ends say 29-1 is pretty much a wash with beating a 15-15 team at home

So going out and playing away games against obscure midmajors like MTSU, Coastal Carolina etc who have a good shot to end 25+ wins is huge

One thing I remember UT fans saying about Bruce is he's a scheduling genius. Once he gets some confidence in the team I could see him going more that route.
He already has. Our SOS last year was 38th.

Bruce is smart. He's a scheduling genius, he's a recruting genius, he has an incredible basketball IQ, and he knows how to work the refs to perfection. Oh, and he can do broadcasts too...everything you want in a basketball coach.

Bruce this morning on Purifoy
quote:

Danjel Purifoy still has a chance to play this season. Pearl said that he should know by the start of the new year if he can play in games. The freshman guard could be a partial qualifier academically or could be ruled fully qualified to play. The coach said the holdup doesn't have anything to do with Auburn preventing him from playing. The holdup now is a resolution with the jump from his first to second ACT test and ruling on that. He hopes to get a final ruling in the next couple of weeks. Pearl said that Purifoy is a major talent who is good enough to play professionally.

Even if he doesn't play in games this season, Purifoy will stay in school on scholarship. He may also be able to continue to practice like he is currently doing.

I just don't understand how it's taking so long. This could/should have been resolved preseason.

JMO but I think they are waiting on a semester's worth of grades to verify the ACT jump, which was supposedly from 12 to 23.

Not if you didn't try the first time. My little brother took it and Christmas tree'd it to an 11. Actually took it and got a 26.

Everyone doesn't double their score when they take it a second time?

Which could be the case. Also equally as probable that he cheated the 2nd time around.

Who knows

Rarely come out more than a day before the game unless it's the NCAA Tourney so ask again on Friday.

Yea, that's a huge jump. I guess if he didn't want to take it the first time for whatever reason and christmas treed it I could see it. I don't get wasting all that time and not halfway trying though.

FWIW JGT thinks that w/ good grades this semester the NCAA will let DP be a practice player the rest of the year.
