A bit of agreement on this... if we move off of Julio this offseason, than I would be 100% on board with this.
Smith and Ridley would be a dynamic duo.

Yes, because you don't know when we're going to be in range to draft a future QB again.
I am also in the camp that likes Wilson. The Mormon Mahomes nickname is a bit overboard but I think he's got absurd potential.

I would say no but if we get Dorsey as GM and he says he wants Wilson, I will trust him based on his track record.

Yeah, I'm really, really high on Wilson. If he's there, it'd be hard to pass on him.
With that said, it doesn't necessarily mean the end of Ryan - I think the Falcons could be like the Chiefs and make the playoffs with Ryan at the helm the next season or two as Wilson acts as an understudy.
I also think it gives the team a year or two to re-tool so the transition is smooth.
The Falcons roster is... pretty decent. They've also got a lot of big contracts that won't expire for the next few years.
I think a "blow up" would be an overreaction, considering the cap hits that it would take. There's talent here to build around.
On offense: Ridley, Jones, Ryan, Smith, Hurst, Matthews, Lindstrom, McGary, are all guys I'd keep through next year. I'd imagine Hennessey is going to take over for Mack.
On defense: Oluwakon, Jarrett, Jones, Terrell are all locks. I think you've got to get a little creative with the rest of the squad. Maybe move Neal to that 3rd LB spot.
Thankfully, we're set at Kicker. We've been EXTREMELY fortunate to have good-to-great kicking as a franchise since pretty the Morten Anderson days. Hard to believe.
The Falcons need to, above all, find a creative and enthusiastic head coach that knows how to scheme our players open on offense.
Outside of the Chargers game, there isn't one time we've lost a game because of Matt Ryan this year. Not one. I've seen Tom Brady throw away more games than Matt this year.
With that said, if Wilson is a guy you think can be a plug-and-play after sitting behind Ryan for a year or 2 - then shoot, go for it.
The Falcons have actually been one of the few franchises that have done extraordinarily well drafting QBs high.
Bartkowski, Vick, and Ryan were all pro-bowl players, with Ryan a likely "Gold Jacket" guy.
This is SUCH an important offseason.... most important one since the last re-org in 2008. Fingers crossed it goes as well, or even better than that one.

I like Wilson. Has good talent and has the kinda swagger that could increase excitement for the Falcons. I still consider Matt a good QB and he could mentor Wilson for two years the maybe move him somewhere as a one year rental before his contract expires in 2024

That makes 3 of us on here.
Haven't seen anyone vouch for Trey Lance yet.

And put Matt together w/Joe Brady as the HC/OC. That'll be fun to watch.

Was also director of college scouting for the Packers when they selected Rodgers.

Yep. I had forgot that part of his resume. Thanks.

If Justin Fields somehow falls to us if the Jags pick Wilson at #2... I legit am going to weep for Matt Ryan.
A former UGA (sorta) QB, whose black, who can run, whose from the Atlanta area.... I mean, the 2 most blind segments of the Falcons fanbase in the area would be out for blood the second Matt Ryan threw an incomplete pass. I was in the Dome for Matt Ryan’s preseason debut and I swear, the barking and cheering F’ing DJ Shockley got was louder than it was for Ryan. Absolutely embarrassing.
I really hope it’s Wilson for the sake of just being good to our best Falcon of all-time. Ryan deserved a lot better than the defense and coordinators we gave him in his prime.

That segment of the fanbase disgusts me. Those are the same people who never accepted Ryan because he is white even though he is a far superior QB than Vick ever dreamed of being.

Well there’s still lots of people here who think Vick did nothing wrong.
As for Ryan, I think he was concussed during the Bears game.

IF you go offensive weapon, I think you take Pitts. Hell, I'd take Waddle or JaMarr over DeVonta...

If we aren’t picking QB... we need to trade down and pick up at least another second or 3rd.
I’d have no problem with a draft that yielded Parson, Waddle/Smith, and Mac Jones in the second.
Don’t sleep on the Falcons taking Jones. Every comp he has is Matt Ryan, and I think he’d be a willing understudy for 2 years as Matt plays out his contract.

I could see someone pulling a ravens/lamar jackson move on Mac.
Move to 1st pick in the second round or grab a late first to get him.

I'm high on Wilson too but just read where some scouts have character concerns on him. They said he's an entitled brat who comes from a loaded family (his uncle is David Neeleman, founder/owner of JetBlue). One called him Johnny Manziel without the drugs.
