After last night's performance in the All-Star game, it's become pretty clear Trae Young is Atlanta's biggest star. Heck, I'd go as far as to say "Superstar." The dude has all the flash, talent, and sizzle a town like Atlanta that drives billions of dollars in Music & Entertainment needs.

His half-court shot to end the half was the highest trending moment of the weekend on social media. Here it is, in case you missed it.

I've got nothing but love for Julio and Acuna. They are generational talents. But Julio is going to need the Falcons to go on another run to get the attention he deserves, and Acuna, unfortunately, plays baseball in an era where the best player of the generation (Trout) is virtually unrecognizable to the public. I blame Manfred and MLB's tired stance of team engagement and video syndication on multiple platforms. But that's a discussion for another day.

My hope is that the Hawks trend upward with their new lineup, and Trae can use his new-found star power to get another big-gun to join us in 2021. It would be great to see the Hawks take advantage of a weak East and play in the Finals.

Trae is worth the price of a ticket alone. I can't wait to go see them soon. I haven't been to a game since we played the Bulls in the playoffs in 2011.

He’s special. I don’t think most people realize he’s averaging a hair under 30 and 10. He’s putting up a better season than Chris Paul ever had in his career.

Please, Hawks, do something with this kid!

bullshite he didnt get to play in the 4th at all. Only starter that wasnt out there. He seemed pretty upset in the postgame interview about it too.

A lot of people noticed that and called Nick Nurse out on keeping Trae and Gobert (who were two of the best players on the floor that night) in for his own Toronto guys. Team LeBron also kept Luka (what was also a starter), out for the 4th.

These kids will have their day. I also think when it comes a time, Trae is going to tear Nurse and the Raptors a new one when we see them in the playoffs in the near future.

it's because he's not being compared to everyone else in the league, he's only being compared to Luka (I'm talking about nationally, not Hawks fans). All you have to do is mosy over to the More Sports Board to see this.

It's a damn shame that folks can't appreciate Trae's talent without bringing up that damned trade. I really hope that Reddish continues to improve and becomes a dependable 15 ppg presence with good defense to shut up most of these folks.

Or the muh but he doesn't play defense posts. He's not a great or even good defender by any means, but it's completely overrated in the regular season. The guy is getting picked up at half court in a lot of games and expending all his energy on the offensive side of the ball because the team requires it. He can be hidden defensively if needed.

What? On one of the shittiest teams in the NBA in a sport that's way behind MLB and NFL in revenue and the 4th most popular team in Atlanta.

Way behind Acuna,Albies,Ryan,Julio

Do ya really want to compare the Falcons and Braves ratings vs the Hawks?

GTFO!

I may be the single biggest Falcons fan I know - 20+ year STHO, and go to virtually 10 games a year. I LOVE Julio and Matt.

But on a national scale, Trae is by far the most visible player. It's not close.

The Hawks are def the 3rd most popular team in the city right now (I know ATL UTD has a loud minority, but their TV ratings and overall national following isn't of the Hawks or the NBA... it's MLS), but they're poised to make a real slingshot quite soon.

Everyone knows the Falcons are the most popular team in town - that isn't lost on anyone. The TV, tickets, and overall machine that is Arthur Blank Football Co. is well known. But as for "national stars" it's Trae Young's city, and will be for a looonnnng time.

It's a good problem to have.

Seems like everyone in this thread and on this board gets that but you.

As far as individual stars, you can't really put baseball players in there. MLB does a terrible job of promoting individual players. Terrible.

Ever. Baseball doesn't have stars anymore.

Ronald Acuna could walk down the street of virtually every major city not named Atlanta in the US and probably not get recognized.

The NBA ratings are shiteIn what way, shape or form is he more visible? Is he on some sitcom we don't know about? Is he a music mogul?

What don't I get? The NBA "visibility" compared to MLB and NFL or even CFB?

Nah,I don't get it if you're saying Trey is the most Visable on a national scale...he isn't.

He plays in a sport that promotes the individual star. This isn't that hard to figure out. You seem pretty mad about this for some reason.

Put it this way. There are tons and tons of Lebron fans that have followed him to every team he's played for. You think there are Tom Brady fans that would change their allegiance to the Cowboys if he wound up there?

Trae Young has 2.3M instagram followers... That's more than every team in the Atlanta metro area. He's on billboards in times square for Adidas. He and the Migos are noted famous friends...

Yes, NBA ratings are down this year. Does that mean LeBron is any less recognizable?

MLB players have the lowest Q rating impact of the 3 major sports in the US. This isn't a discussion on how you, some simpleton in "DaWg CounTrY" views superstars.

It's not just about TV ratings... hasn't been in a while.

College football is also very popular (Roll Tide). But not even my friends in Birmingham who spend time on message boards, not dissimilar to this one, discussing the armpit hair length of Nick Saban's recruiting class think that more people know who Tua Tagoviloa is than Trae Young.

The NBA All-Star game is a world-wide event. It gets massive hits globally. MLB and CFB don't even register.

Trust me, I'd love if Julio was more popular on a national scale. But fact of the matter is, Trae (not Trey) has the sizzle and production. Look forward to when the Hawks start winning.

as a non Hawks fan, I agree. Trae is special. He is the future of Atlanta (along with Acuña).

Only thing they will do with him is lose him to free agency.
