Did they just bench Penix or did I miss some injury or something?
No injury. He was absolute dogshit today. That pick six he threw looked like a dude who said "frick it" and gave up.

I don’t really understand how one could think hiring Terry Fontenot was a good idea, much less Raheem Morris. It must have been so bad that literally no one wanted these jobs.

I'm 100% convinced that being black is a big reason why Fontenot got his job. Raheem got his job because he is a yes man.

That’s just embarrassing, dude.
A smile on your face after a 30-0 loss. Wow.

It was legitimately the most embarrassing Falcons game in 20 years. There are no adjectives to describe how bad the offense was. Penix looked like he gave up early in the third quarter. The lack of speed on the perimeter, which has been an issue for 5 years now, reared its ugly head again yesterday; it gets a lot easier to play defense in the NFL when you don't have to worry about anyone on the offense beating you downfield. Drake London is tough as nails, is a great blocker, and will do the dirty work underneath, but if you can't beat defenses downfield, you aren't a #1 receiver in the NFL.
Defense held out as long as they could, but when the offensive coordinator and QB are as atrocious as Robinson and Penix were yesterday, there's only so much the defense can do to cover it up.
Raheem Morris is a fricking loser. He would rather be their friend than their coach. He is Black Dan Quinn without any of the early success.

Chris Dimino's list to replace Raheem Morris:
1. Nick Saban
2.Kirby
3.Dan Lanning.

Ray Charles would be better than Raheem Morris.

No. They do not need a college coach. They need a proven offensive mind in the NFL.

As long as Blank/McKay make the hire, they'll frick it up.

I don't hate what TF has done. Especially in FA.
Raheem is awful. Terrible hire. Never hire a player first guy when your team is a dumpster fire. Hire a hard arse.

Well I’m over my college football team time for the Falcons to disappoint

Much, much better performance today. I'm not sure what the hell last week was.

The Falcons have drafted well.
It is a good roster.
The coaching staff is at its best, mid-grade.
Today we saw what a good Penix/Bijan/Pitts/London barrage can look like.
Baby birds defense is promising. A lot to like - last week was truly bizarre.
Glad the Birds could lift the spirits of the football statesmen in Georgia after Saturday night in Athens.

This year looks like it was good. Last 4 drafts before this were horrendous.

Solid, but it has a lot of holes. Still missing a true deep threat WR and the defensive line is still pretty undersized and susceptible to getting gashed in the run game.

In terms of draft -
They didn’t miss on any first round picks. I’d walk away with our guys the last few years no questions asked, especially Bijan. He looks like a generational player.
Every NFL team has *some* holes. The design of the cap is means almost every team does.
But outside of kicker when he’s outside; there isn’t a single position group that is below league average, IMO. *Maybe* corner without AJ.

Interior defensive line might be the worst in the league and it has been ever since they foolishly let Dontari Poe walk after the 2017 season. They've been vulnerable to power running games for years.
As for drafting, the first round guys have been mostly fine (although Pitts has badly underwhelmed for a #4 overall pick), but his 2nd-4th round picks, where the core of every team is built, have been absolutely putrid.
