Lots of fans want him in the opening day lineup? Why? Keep him down like what the cubs did with Bryant. Extra year of control. One more year he’s with the braves and not the Red Sox / Dodgers.

It’s worth the 14 games or whatever for the extra year. It’s not like we’ll be competitive this year anyway. But I can’t wait for him to get called up

He should definitely stay down and its only like 12 games, but holy shite. Every time I feel like "ok, now he'll hit the skid" he just goes out and hits .050 pts higher than he did at his last stop.

Last time I was this excited about a players was Heyward, then Frenchy before that. Seeing how both those turned out I'm trying to reserve optimism. Maybe we catch a break this time.

I have been all for this.
Yesterday on the radio they kept hammering the point that we would sign him to a big deal (assuming he's the real deal) before the 7th year anyway so does it really matter that he's under our control for an additional year?

A lot of variables there, though. That's fair from definitely going to happen.
If it was half the season or even 2 months, I'd be pissed. But 2 weeks? I'm fine with it. I get it.

I've been in the camp supporting him coming up immediately and thinking we'll sign him before he hits free agency.
But on the other hand, you run the risk of having a Bryce Harper who, by all accounts has wanted to play for the Yankees since he was a kid. Maybe with them acquiring Stanton it'll make it less likely that Harper goes there, but Washington will probably ultimately lose him.
Had he started the season in Washington during his rookie year, he would have been a free agent this offseason, and maybe the Yankees sign him instead of trading for Stanton.

No guarantee he will sign another contract. The easy answer is wait out 2 weeks for another year. No brainer.
