Headed to Miami hot. Prepare for Ronald to get white-hot. I hope he hits a lead off homer in every game there. It was about this time last year wasn’t it?

Sounds like Dansby will be back Friday or Saturday. I guess you slot him in behind Donaldson. Can’t move Ozzie out of 2 right now.
That will be a welcomed return.

Good thing Dansby is coming back, cause Riley’s weight room injury has landed him on the DL.

not so fast my friend
today on the braves reddit someone named bravesthrowaway66 created an account and said they worked in the front office and were passing along info. the first piece of info was, paraphrasing
riley hurt his knee, it's pretty severe, you will know I am legit when you see him go on the DL today or tomorrow
so then like 5 hours later they announce riley to the DL so obviously this dude is legit; also the mods confirmed that he provided them proof that he worked in the front office
the other info he posted that I can remember:
dansby rehab is not going great and not to expect him back until late august/early september
braves made offers to the blue jays for stroman and sanchez
marlins wanted pache, riley, and anderson for realmuto; FO thought Realmuto would be re-signable; alex wont give up big prospects unless he feels someone is re-signable
Luke jackson not comfortable in the closer role and wants to be middle relief; AA loves him at his value and lots of teams reached out at the deadline about him
braves checked in on greinke at the deadline but that was already reported

I saw that. He committed career suicide.

I'll have what Jeter is smoking. Holy frick. That's the kind of prospect haul you ask for if you're looking to trade an Acuna or Freeman level player with more than two years of control left.

I don't know. The Braves are pretty social media savvy. I wouldn't be surprised if bravesthrowaway66 is an authorized leaker.
Nothing else posted is really big news, IMO. I didn't have a lot of time to follow off season happenings this year and knew that the Marlins were wanting 3 top 10 prospects for JTR, to include Riley and Pache.
The Braves reaching out to the Blue Jays was all over MLB Network. It is clear as crystal that Jackson is more comfortable in middle relief as opposed to closing. MLB Network mentioned before trade to the Astros that the Braves had checked in on Grienke.
If this is an secretive public relations effort by the Braves on Reddit, I'm not even mad and actually applaud them for engaging their fan base this way.

Yeah it wasn’t necessarily damning. I suppose disclosing Riley and Dansby’s injuries could be used as intel for other teams maybe.
I remember the Marlins being dickheads to us about Realmulto, asking ridiculous requests for him.
The whole JD “is too expensive” next year was probably the most intriguing part. With Riley possibly injured, coupled with his troubles with the breaking balls, JD is becoming a near must-sign piece for next season. I honestly don’t know what the 3B market looks like for the MLB, but at the same time it would be hard to fault JD if he goes after as much $$$ as possible at 34 years old next season. Although he’s said before that he’s happy to be in ATL.

Not really. He looked like shite yesterday and was shitty last year when he wasn't the closer.
His problem is he is a one pitch pitcher just like Gausman (slider for Luke, splitter for Gaus). Hitters just spit on his nasty sliders and wait on him to hang one or throw his terrible straight-as-an-arrow fastball. It's extremely hard to succeed with one effective pitch unless that pitch is a cutter and you are Mariano Rivera.

Luke should probably go the Sergio Romo/Turk Wendell route and just throw his slider 80-90% of the time. I realize he has been unlucky this season with batted ball luck, but the guy also gives up a lot of hard contact and too many walks/dongs.

He's had two appearances since being moved out of the closers role. The home plate umpire on Tuesday night - and Monday night for that matter - had some very strange strike zones. With that said, I would be shocked if McCann didn't tell Jackson that when he entered the game.
I couldn't watch the game yesterday so I don't know well hit the two hits he gave up were.
I agree with you about him being a 1 pitch pitcher. Just a bit of movement on his FB would be great to see.
Speaking of, before he had to sit for that long amount of time, the movement on Folty's fastball Tuesday night was fantastic.

And we’re making another average pitcher look like degrom.

frick this game, I'm out.
sometimes it's nice to be informed early on in the process that there's no point in watching lol. I was able to squeeze in 2 episodes of The Americans (season 3 - first time watching) before going to bed.

Hell yeah, love that show.

DK was off bad, everything was staying up in the zone, and nothing was breaking. He gave up a monster blast too. Oh well.
