HELLLOOOOOOOOOO DEPRESSED ATLANTA SPORTS FANS!
As we divert our eyes away from the recent beatings at Suntrust Park and the Benz, we can now settle in to a more exciting, fun, low-expectation experience: ATLANTA HAWKS BASKETBALL. But just because the expectations are low, does not mean that this team will be a dull-watch - they may even surprise.
Consistently ranked as one of the top 2-3 best young rosters in the NBA, this team could contend for the 8-seed in this year's playoffs. With over $80 million coming off the books this year alone, and 2 more 1st round draft picks in tow, it may not be long before this is the team that contends for titles in Atlanta. (In fact, I think they'll be the ones that end up doing it, eventually).
Without further adieu, please say hello to this year's team!
PG: Trae Young
C: Alex Len
PF: John Collins
SG: Kevin Huerter
SF: DeAndre Hunter
KEY RESERVE: Cam Reddish
Key Reserve: Vince Carter
Key Reserve: DeAndre Bembry
FUN ROOKIE TO WATCH: BRUNO FERNANDO
Your fearless leader: HC Lloyd Pierce
Think the Hawks will get off to a somewhat rough start, considering the schedule they face - 9 out of the first 15 are playoff teams last year.
Looking forward to seeing these guys grow up a bit this year, especially Trae, Huerter, JC, Reddish, Hunter, and Bruno. Also, great that Vince wanted to play with us one more year for his swan song.
Go Hawks!

Tony Ressler hears you. The Hawks are getting rid of this disastrous set of uniforms, and, getting new ones next year.

Thanks Jesus. These are by far the worst we have ever had. I love all of the alternates we wear. Excited for this team and what they can do. 2nd half of the season was fun last year. Hope to see Reddish take Kevins spot eventually.

Won't have to wait too long. Huerter is out with an injury tonight and Reddish will start in his place

Reddish isn't ready. He needs some work.

Tend to agree. Hope people give him time, unlike Trae who people were ready to burn at the stake after month 1.

I think that's because he was basically taken over Luka. Hopefully people realize Reddish is a WIP. I think Hunter should be pretty good from the jump though.

Yep, on minutes restriction.

I love sports. We just all experienced heartbreak in baseball, some of us have great CFB teams to follow but others of us do not. Same with NFL. The great thing about sports is that there is always a new start around the corner if you follow most of the major sports. Looking forward to a lowkey winter watching some hawks basketball as my hunger for baseball starts to build back up

17 point win. Trae with 38/7/9. Collins and Parker crushed it.
That was so much fun.

Hunter looked like he’s been playing a few years. Huerter looked like he’s been out for six months. Reddish looked like he wasn’t there. Hopefully first game jitters. Bruno was a bit of a surprise too.

If they were in the finals up 3 games to none, I’m not getting on this train until the clock hits 0:00. Haha!

I'm not really in tune with how strong other teams in the league are. Haven't paid much attention outside of the Hawks due to it being a 2-3 horse race most years. That said, I don't know how good Detroit is supposed to be, but that was an impressive showing last night regardless. This is going to be fun, I think.
I only watched the first half since United started right before halftime, but what I saw definitely had me feeling good.

Detroit is one of those teams slotted for the last 3 spots in virtually all playoff prognostications. This is the kind of team you need to beat (much less, thrash) if you're going to compete for a playoff spot.
Long way to go, but, that well-exceeded my expectations of the squad for game 1.
Big test Saturday against Orlando. May have to get tickets and head down to State Farm for opening night. This team looks good
