Would it be too early to get GJ kinne after this year?

Great offensive mind who’s team currently sits 11th in total offense, pulled some major upsets this year at Texas state, big time recruiting ties to the state of Texas, and runs an offense that would better suit the personnel on campus so potentially less people hit the portal. Plus he’d probably be a bargain and HY loves him a good deal

This is only his 2nd year as a head coach. His first year was at incarnate word last year where they went 12-2 and lost in the fcs semifinals. This year he took over at Texas state who went 4-8 a year ago and are currently 5-2 his first year with their only losses by 7 and 4 points to UTSA and Louisiana who are two of the better g5 programs out there. He also beat Baylor in his first game as an fbs head coach this year at Texas state where they were 34 point underdogs

I put him up in the realistic coaching search way back after the BYU game.

He is young, but his teams seem to perform. Deep ties to Texas. Pretty sure he flipped most of his team using the portal in his first year.

Does he wear a visor? If he does, I'm out.

Downside, he was an offensive analyst under Chad, but left after the first year. He left to go work for the eagles.

Whoever it is has got to get at least one of these QB’s we got coming up in state. I’m not sure if we got a chance at Archer, but there’s a freshman at Warren that is going to be a MFer.

Has an Arkansas QB done well after leaving the state for college?

I can’t think of one.

I’ve been racking my brain, and I can’t think of one either. Kodi Burns is as close as I can get.

no he wears a baseball cap and shades he looks like a grade A douchebag that runs through college tail, kinda like kingsbury. I’d rather have that than a dork though

I'm all in the GJ Kinne camp.... IMO we need someone that's ahead of the game offensively. Plus, he seems to understand how to make the portal work and is a "get more with less" guy and I think we all know we need that around here.

Which is exactly what's needed here.

I can 100% tell you he's not a douche, doesn't chase anything but his 2 very young adorable kids and like Traylor, is a true man of faith. But think what you want.

I wasn't aware of the GJ Kinne and Jeff Traylor connection. Pretty interesting article.

Warning - the following paragraph may cause PTSD...

quote:

Kinne signed with Texas in February of 2007 and, roadblocked by Colt McCoy, transferred to Tulsa the following spring. Among his coaches during Kinne's three years at Tulsa: Gus Malzahn, Mike Norvell, and Chad Morris. "Chad and I were on the phone constantly, talking through concepts we'd done with GJ," Traylor said.
