So Muss is headed to SMU.

Interesting. Where do we go from here?

Absolute terrible choice. He’s more punchable than Muss

Hopefully we get Beard.

My god we suck. Lose our OC to TCU and Basketball HC to SMU. Someone’s head needs to roll.

I should clarify it's not 100% confirmed, at least not from what I've seen, but there's a TON of smoke. More than usual.

Depending on who you see the deal is either already done or awaiting final decisions.

The short of the story going around is Muss wanted pretty much complete control over how NIL was allocated and it didn't sit well. Essentially got to the point where Muss was at odds with too many people. SMU isn't short on money and would likely give him the control he wants.

So now we going to act like the NBA and let our GM AD whose adamantly against NIL control the money?

We are a dang sunbelt program at best right now. Hunter needs to be gone with a quickness.

I interpreted it as the donors wanting more personal say but that's purely my own speculation.

Yeah, because the UA is doing such a bang-up fricking job with NIL. Let him have the NIL money headache FFS! It is getting more difficult all the time to stay an Arkansas fan. Muss is easily the best coach we have had since Nolan. That's 22 years in basketball purgatory. Give the man whatever the hell he wants. If people give up on basketball the way they have on football, baseball is sure to follow. Just stick us in the Sunbelt Conference and forget sports at the UA.

It's just a weird situation all around. Even if it doesn't turn out to be true and Muss is back next year, it just means we're riding with a coach that tried like hell to get out and couldn't. There's no way there's this much action around a coach with apparently no agent if he's not putting himself out there. Kinda depressing.

I've said it all along, Muss has pissed off the wrong people. That never sits well with the big money folks.

Rumor or not, Muss' time at the UofA will end sooner than later.

Yeah something is definitely up.

This isn't just sour grapes but at this point I will not be upset about losing Muss. I wouldn't have guessed I'd be saying this a year ago. He's capable of being a great coach, but he has a pretty low floor too.

There are things that have put a bad taste in my mouth - not just W/L record. Mismanaging the roster. Lack of player discipline/accountability. Making what I consider pretty stubborn play-time decisions.

On top of that, I'm just tired of watching this iso heavy offense. I'm tired of watching "potential" guys struggle to adapt to the college game, and going off in the pros.

I'm also tired of giving the other team free points every game after Muss' obligatory blow-ups.

Along with all that, it just shows a lack of loyalty/commitment that he's focused flirting with other jobs instead of rebuilding our (soon to be) decimated roster. I'm not saying I'm out there with a pitch fork trying to run him off. I'm saying if he leaves I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

For those of you worried about losing a HC to SMU... I get that, but it's not that clear. Muss isn't in a position right now to receive a huge raise/extension. If he didn't just have a losing season, that extension would've already been announced and this SMU thing would not be a story. It's not that he's necessarily being pushed out, but I don't think we're getting baited into a bidding war for Muss at this point.

Somebody would be smart to check who the Assistant AD is at SMU and question why Hunters son would want to be involved with the hiring of Muss at his school (SMU)

Maybe HY is sick of our boosters demanding a best friend via donations and told Jake come hire this guy and give him the funds and he will win.

Hunters son is involved in the secondary sports his dad excells at beating his chest over.

Maybe Rob Evans will put in a good word for John Pelphrey?

About what? Wade being a terrible choice? No. Dude is soft as chicken shite.

And about Muss being punchable? No. He’s super cringe. Constantly whining to the refs even when it’s obvious they made the right call. And jumping around shirtless. Very punchable
