Granted, a lot of outsiders have always viewed Little Rock with some disdain but now it appears that a substantial number of insiders are getting fed up with the state of affairs.

It all depends on what areas you live in or frequent. I've never once felt in danger for my life.
I think a lot of the perception is media fed and most of the violence are in areas where no one on this board would ever spend time.

Even Stapleton?

He's not bad although he did steal the Tennessee whiskey beat from Etta James.

With what seems to be at least one murder daily

That's nowhere near accurate. There have been 34 this year, which is well above average for this time of year. Even with that, if you exclude southwest and the area between fair park and cedar, you cut that number nearly in half.

Is crime a problem? Yes. But it's ridiculous to dismiss the entire city based on a few neighborhoods that you can very easily avoid if you want.

Does crime happen elsewhere? Yes, you can get killed anywhere on the planet. North of 630 in Little Rock proper has seen 5 homicides this year. The entirety of North Little Rock has seen 3 this year. These are huge areas covering large chunk of the metro area's population, businesses, restaurants, parks, etc.

And honestly even in the more dangerous areas are not likely to experience any problems if you're going about your own business during the day.

Let's not act like it's some sort of death trap.

Me either- I've been scared in Memphis once and in St Louis once but never in LR and I've been a regular traveler to Little Rock since I was a child.

The demise of Riverfest is but one example of a city in distress.

That's a pretty good stretch.

So does this mean the great stadium debate can be revived? I was kind of hoping so.

But back to the topic of Little Rock, I honestly cannot remember a time in the modern era at least where the city has taken such a beating. That's the perception at least and perception is reality.

I will say that I seldom felt threatened in Little Rock and that included working downtown at night in an area that was much more sketchy back then than now. And I agree that most of the bad stuff happens in the bad areas where you normally wouldn't go but which I do go to sometimes because of work which is ok because it is during the daytime.

The worst thing that happened to me was that was my car was broken into at night over near the Governor's Mansion. And I agree random violence can occur anywhere--I do think it is more prevalent in the better parts than it used to be. And while there may be no more murders than is usually the case, there were a couple on the same day a few days ago and they are constantly in the news.

Some areas have undergone changes like SWLR being really good (for those old enough to remember) to being bad to coming back somewhat and it is what it is now although I'm guessing many of us seldom go there unless we're passing through. In a western part of town I lived in a good area and while not bad by any means now I don't think I'd want to live there again with some of the bad things that have happened in and around there.

Honestly I think the Mayor and City Council are very concerned about Little Rock's image right now and it isn't where they want it to be for sure which says a lot I think. Frankly, it isn't going to affect me regardless--I'm going to go where I want to go in the city and do what I want to do a la the Mamas & the Papas.

I left LRaq and ain't ever looking back. It's going to get a lot worse, before it gets any better.

I'm ashamed that I used to support Stodola and was actually friends with him and his family, but he sold his and LRaq's soul to the devil. I've told him as much.

LRaq's city board/police chief/city mgr/ and Stodola can all get fricked, because that's what they are doing to the 'have nots' of LR.

Also, LRockistan just had their 35th homocide at those crime filled apartments by UALR.

It all makes sense now.

I'd rather meet you in LR.
