But it didn't work out. Bert has ran us aground. We need something new, something different, something out of the ordinary to really succeed here. We need the pirate to take over the flagship!I've said it before and I'll say it again Give me mike leach!

What makes anyone think Leach would want to come here? Leach isn't coming to Fayetteville. Neither is Gruden, Gundy, Mullen, Saban, or Belichek.
We need Long to be realistic, decide whether we want to stick with a pro style offense or the spread, and go find a fiery, young, competent coach who does things the right way.

We need Sumlin to do enough to save his job for one more year...

I think he did that last night. They were almost in the game with Bama throughout.

He hasn't made it through the November collapse yet...

They aren't going to win out, but their D should carry them pretty well, barring injury.

One can only hope. I want Chad Morris and don't want to have to go up against Aggy to get him, because we'd lose out.

I'll take whoever as long as a change is made and I'll give the new coach my support just like I did with Bert. Five years is plenty of time to determine whether or not a coaching hire was a good choice.

I want a Saban, get in some guys arse cause he blinked his eyes at the wrong time, type of coach.
Or any guy who can win.
Or any guy who can win.

While I agree with the sentiment, can you imagine those poor players having to transition from CBB over to a hardass in the Saban mold?

I just want to win. Say what you will about Petrino, he had a plan, executed the plan, and was able to do what he did in the toughest division in the country. And I don't think he was running a dirty program (though I don't have any proof or insider knowledge either way).
The biggest concerns for whomever makes the next coaching hire for us are twofold:
1. Buyout: BB's buyout is enormous, so ponying up the cash is for that is not going to be easy. But moreover, with coaching salaries rising the way they are, if we get a big name coach, do we potentially get ourselves into another BB situation with a huge buyout and a terrible coach?
2. Big name vs up and comer: classic AD choice. I think this depends on the money, but we are definitely going to have to look and see who's available and gauge interest.

After Jan 1st his buyout is 11 mil. Spread out over 5 years with him not taking a new job to offset the amount you are looking at 2.2mil per year.
That basically means if an up and comer is hired you can pay him 2.3 mil a year and be left with the exact same cost of salary over a 5 year period as keeping Bert.
With the bigger stadium, revenue will increase if it is filled, which is additional salary potential. Basically on the face of it Bert's buyout appears impossible to over come, which would be true if we were paying numerous other buyouts for changes made in other programs but that isn't the case and doesn't appear to be the case for the foreseeable future with the big buyout contracts, basketball isn't going to see a change for a while and DVH is untouchable performance be damned.

If he can stay there one more season, we might have a chance at Chad Morris.
