Stark was very efficient overall. Seemed to be up and down a bit. Loved his interview at the end. Seems to know he missed some he shouldn't and plans on working on it.

Running game much improved with passes setting it up, the play calling seemed an improvement.

Special teams, not bad. Nice to see Ogrady get involved.

What happened to Pool? I missed it...

Defense, Lordy mercy... what is wrong with us? It was the D that kept us in the game to some extent prior to today, and then role reversals.

Has Chad taken over the play calling?

Is Chief sucking?

Who do we still have a good chance to beat this season?

you know, that is a simple statement.. .but also completely correct. We had gotten used to the meltdowns. Showed some grit today!

It's because most these kids are young...freshmen and sophomores that have a better State of mind and are buying in. It is going to take time, but it's the best we've looked in 3 years, maybe longer...at least on offense

Yeah, but what do we need to do about the D? I do believe our O is going to get much better without injuries, in the next few weeks.

We used some plays today that I hadn't seen in a long time.

BUt defense needs much improvement in tackling alone, much less sealing the corners against the run.

We might need to go with the Army concept of feast or famine on defense and bring a ton of blitzers on almost every play. When we just sit back we are getting picked apart and we are taking bad angles on the QBs, the RBs, the WRs, and... heck, probably the bench.

This is probably my biggest takeaway from the game, other than Starkel's high potential.

We were in a pretty similar situation with the lead against Colorado St. last year, and we all know how that ended.

This time we did the opposite, we turned on the jets in the 4th quarter to put the game away; we finally ended with the victory formation.

We have more than 50 freshmen on the team. Simple as that.

I told my wife after the Boyd/Starkel fumble that we were going to lose because for what seems like the hundredth time in the last 8 years we’d taken a big lead and then had a turnover right when we were about to open it up. Sure enough they went on a run to tie it up at 34 and I’m saying here we go again. Glad they proved me wrong for once.

Couldn't disagree more. I don't think you change your defensive scheme because your players are inexperienced. All that guarantees is that they remain inexperienced.

You coach them to hit their marks.

Eh. We won. I'm not gonna argue against a win. I'm just saying that I believe Chief is a competent defensive coordinator. I think he has proven that. I wouldn't presume to know how he should go about coaching at this point because his team of 53 freshmen play like freshmen.

Hell, maybe I'm wrong. You should probably get on the horn to the media and tell them to tell Chadwick to tell Chavis to start sending the house every down and get back with us.

At this point I wouldn't be surprised if a bunch of armchair QB types in Little Rock did try to tell him how to run his defense.

I dunno. To me it looks like a very young team that needs a patient fanbase.

The defense looked shaky early, but it looked great in the 4th. I haven't looked at the stats, but I believe the defense outscored CSU 7-0 in the 4th quarter. CSU took advantage to tie the game, but Chavis kept the pressure on and I thought they completely dominated the rest of the game.

Yeah our young ends keep over pursuing when they get into the backfield.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled about the win. I couldn't be happier about it, especially since we won it in the 4th which hasn't happen in ages for us.

But I think you can be happy about the win and still acknowledge that for three quarters our defense played horribly. Maybe it is because they are young, maybe it is because of the scheme, but we had a ton of problems out there today.

I do think that we were more aggressive in the 4th quarters and that their back up started feeling the pressure of a close game on the road.

Our DBs aren't very good. I think the results show that if we give the other team time to throw the ball they are going to pluck us like a Tyson chicken. We have to bring the heat until our DBs can cover the deep ball or we are going to get smoked like a cheap cigar.

Coach them up sure, especially on angles and tackling, but until then we have to roll the dice on defense. We will, I hope, get to where we don't have to do that eventually, but until better to go big then sit back and get torn apart.

It is better to be too aggressive then to be too passive.

Regardless it is a win and we should all be happy with that. For the last few years 4th quarter wins that we gutted out have been more rare then a hen's tooth.

The biggest issue with the D I saw was giving up way to many big run plays which was cleaned up in the fourth. When you’re going to run the kind of offense that Morris wants to run, your defense is going to be on the field most of the game and needs massive depth.

dont be so sensitive. clean up tackling , angles, and setting the eqde and were there. with or without pressure but pressure makes up for a lot of other flaws
