Hearing the same.
The football program being in the shitter played a big part in Long’s firing, I don’t believe for one second that he was refusing to fire Bielema. Long isn’t/wasn’t stupid enough to charge that hill.
There are issues aplenty with the NEZ expansion and there was allegedly some funny math involved in the revenue projections thet ended up being way off, which the BOT was furious about (especially given Pryor’s earlier warnings). If our football program was in great shape and the fans were happy, I’d wager that this is something they’d be willing to overlook.

Quit being losers.
I'll ask anyone here. Can it really get any fricking worse?
After we lose to Mizzou and MSU we will be the WORST PROGRAM IN THE SEC over the last 5 years.
Let that sink in, not sure how it already hasn't with some of you.
Anderson and Van Horn aren't going anywhere so what the hell is everyone worried about?

Jeff Long fired for convenience
If he's being fired for convenience and not for cause.. then all the other reasons are basically bullshite.

Schaap reporting he was dismissed "out of convenience" so we owe him $4.5M over 4 years.

My main concern is that we get stuck with some half-arse coach for 15 years because he's buddies with the new AD so we can't get rid of him.
If the new AD actually plays the game based on W/L record, then there's really no where to go but up.

IF this isn't due to either:
1) Some sort of as yet undisclosed wrongdoing on his part
or
2) A refusal to fire Bielema when the board wanted him gone
Then this is a bad move. That being said, I'm imagining that it's based on one of the two things above, so I'm fine with it (despite thinking Long has done a fine job as AD, knowing him socially, and generally liking him as a person).

I’m surprised he didn’t take the offer to resign, really surprised.

So we owe him 4.5 and we're going to fire Bert and owe him between 6 and 15 million (depending on who you believe)
which leads me to think some big big dogs are tossing in some serious moolah for this. I'm not sure whether to be happy about that or scared.

So the same as what we were doing now?
Again, how can it get worse than keeping Long and Bert?

If Long was indeed going to keep Bret, then yes.

Does anyone know where to watch the presser?

If the football program had been doing well, wonder if they would have looked the other way on his other transgressions.
Great what if question

Yes. They would have grumbled but if we were doing well in football they'd have turned a blind eye to it. Long stuck with a losing hand when he should have folded a while back.

I saw where his buyout was 1 million

This would coincide with what I heard around the time of the BOT meeting, that "some figures didn't line up with the expansion." But at the time it was believed to not be directly Long's fault, just looked bad on his part. I guess the 2nd part could be false or left up for interpretation.
