Like the sig quote. Sugarloaf provided good music to shoot pool to back in the day. Also, “Don’t Call Us.”

I knew Amy's dad in LR years back. She has always been ultra talented.

Looking forward to seeing her/them live in the future... Good Lord willing!

I use to work at Children’s Hospital. Amy would come play piano and sing for the kids in the activity room. Always respected her for that.

Not sure how I didn't know this fact. To say she has some serious pipes is quite the understatement.

I followed them a little back in the day. I was more familiar with the drummer's other band (Living Sacrifice), and the drummer/vocalist John LeCompt's other band (Mindrage).

Ben recently talked about why he left in 2003. LINK He isn't super specific, but I'm guessing it was both creative differences and the pressure of playing Vino's monthly to being catapulted to international fame just got to everyone. Similiar stuff happened with other members. Rocky and John left the band in 2007 on not great terms.

we were def at some of the same shows back in the day. between the local groups, Poynter's studio and the tooth and nail/solid state connections with bands like Zao and POD, the scene was pretty legit there for awhile. was never 100% my bag, outside Zao, but showed up all the same.

I was in a mildly successful band for about 10 years, and we happened to open for Evanescence right as they were starting to get noticed/get big. Even by that time Amy had a reputation in the local music scene for being difficult and full of herself, and it seemed to be for good reason.

She essentially kept herself isolated from the rest of her band when we were all hanging out before and after the show, she had her own van she and her "people" would travel in while the band shared a different one, and she only ever joined them on stage, in the studio, or practicing. They didn't really know eachother personally at all, and the band was all business to her.

That's all well and good, but it can get grating and become a grind if you're on the road for weeks or months with these people that have no interest in being friends. My bandmates and I were all friends from school that happened to start a band and be pretty good at it, but even WE had problems when it came to being on the road together for so long. I can't imagine if your lead singer was all business, kept herself isolated, and basically thought she WAS the band. frick that.

So yes, just about everyone from Arkansas that's paid any attention to the music scene has heard that she is... difficult. And I can tell you firsthand that it was certainly true, even BEFORE they got big. When I see these stories about cycling through so many band members over the years, it doesn't surprise me one bit

This is what I heard as well from people who played with them at the time. But since that was 15-20 years ago, I'm chalking it up to young age, ambition, immaturity, etc etc. I'm sure everyone involved is a completely different person now. They were just kids.

I'm sure we did! I was at a show just about every weekend back then. Man, I had some great times in Vino's and Juanita's. TNT Powerhouse was fun too, but there was nothing like the insane vibe at Vino's back then. Good times!

throw in some personal beefs and dysfunction and some shady managers, and that about sums up what happened.

Her little sister may have better pipes than Amy.

My kids were at PA with them.

Hopefully she is nicer if the above is true.
