I think it's over for him regardless this year. He has lost the team and the fan base.

Its still early. we will see what happens but i see next year as the make or break it year.

The guy will never win more than 9 games here(which he hasn't even accomplished after 5 years)

What's the point of keeping him? I don't understand how anyone can justify it.

One more year to do what, win 7 games and go to the Texas bowl? Then what... fire him after that? Why wait?

A polished turd is still a turd.

We have incredibly low expectations as a football program if our coach has a sub .500 record is winning 29% of his conference games 5 years in and we're like "meh, jury's still out."

There are always excuses for why a football coach doesn't get the job done. Now, I will grant you, some of them are pretty damn good like "the entire team was killed in a plane crash last year". I'll hold that coach to a lower standard of success even five years into his tenure.

Bert does not get that excuse. Yes, Petrino left the cupboard a little bare but 5 years in you've had time to correct all that.

The bottom line with the big feller is he has not done the job to the level that is desired. In his fifth season we are staring down the barrel of a potential 3 or 4 win season and the growing horror that we might not beat the worst Missouri team in decades.

Assuming losses to Auburn and Bama, even if he goes on masterful winning streak, we can finish, at best, 7-5 this year. In an SEC West that is as down as its been since the 90's.

I like Bert, I think he'd make a great TV talking head, but he isn't getting the job done. Its time to let him go.

I do have incredibly low expectations for us. were at best the 4th or 5th most prestigious football program in our division.

Alabama
Lsu
auburn
Texas am
Arkansas
ole miss
miss state

we've gone to Atlanta 3 times is how I get us above ole miss.

Texas am we beat heads up but they are more recognizable brand than Arkansas whether we admit it or not. they also have better more consistent ties to Texas recruiting than us.

Is it sad that I'm more excited about the start of the Mike Neighbors era in WBB than watching another season of football with Bert at the helm?

The word on merrick is he is so slow. When they got him on campus they seen how slow his feet moved. I don't think he will ever start here.
