And Hogville weeps. Small is only playing FB this year.

Just a hunch, but from things that have been said, I expect Kiero will be much more involved in the offense other than just blocking this year.

Hatcher, Herndon, and Wilson were the main receivers that Coach Smith talked about.
McKay has been battling some injuries and it doesn't sound like he has done much yet.

I completely agree. Bradie Ewing, Bielema's best FB while at Wisconsin, had 20 receptions for 246 yards his senior year. In 5 years in the Petrino system, our FB's had 12 catches. I fully expect Small to be much more involved in the passing game like Ewing was and possibly the occasions run as well.

"It was really good," said Morgan, a three-time state champion and two-time title game MVP at Greenwood High. "We walked in the indoor facility and I could hear whistles blowing and feet rumbling and pads clashing together. It's what you want to see out of an SEC football program. I had a good time."
Morgan, 6-1, 190, 4.4, said he spent most of his time watching receivers coach Michael Smith's group on Tuesday.
"I was hanging out with Coach Smith and just getting a feel for how these guys look in pads," Morgan said. "Without pads they're huge, but with pads on you can really see how you're going to size up against those guys.
"I was watching this drill where the cornerback's off and the receivers are blocking them and trying to run downhill. The first whistle blows and No. 4, Keon Hatcher, flat-out buried the corner he was going against. I said, 'So, that's what a receiver needs to look like.' Hatcher's a good solid athlete and he definitely put that guy on his back.
"I also got to see Travis Swanson and Mitch Smothers, a couple of guys I met on my official visit. Travis took time out of practice to come over and say 'What's up, how have you been doing?' I met Mekale McKay and some other guys too."
Morgan said one of the highlights of his short stay in Fayetteville was getting to know Collins, who will be in town until Thursday evening.
"He sounds like he's a really good guy," Morgan said of the four-star running back. "He's family to me now so I'm going to treat him like a brother. He's definitely a cool cat to hang around.
"He was telling me he set a state record in the 4x100 last week in Florida. That's pretty neat to be able to say you set any state track record in the state of Florida. That's pretty dang fast."
Morgan said he's been keeping a regular workout routine to stay in shape, and he's definitely gotten some nice work in this week while running routes for former Razorback quarterback Tyler Wilson at Greenwood High.
"I've been working with Tyler the last couple of days," he said. "Coach (Rick) Jones called me into his office on Monday and asked me if I wanted to come up and catch for a little while. I was wearing cowboy boots, jeans and a long-sleeve shirt, then I get out on the field and there's Tyler Wilson. He told me he needed someone to catch for him because Coach Jones' hands were getting blistered. I asked him if I can go change clothes and he said, 'No, just stand there and I'll hit you.'
"Today (Tuesday) I ran a bunch of routes and probably caught like 70 or 80 passes from him. It was pretty cool catching passes from a soon-to-be NFL quarterback."

I'll reserve judgement until I hear from the defensive coaches tomorrow.

Notes from a guy that went and saw Coach B speak last night in Saline County.
quote:
Coach Bielema was in Benton for the Razorback Fish Fry. This was my first time to get to hear him in person and I thought I would share a few of the better moments of the night with all you guys and girls. I personally was very impressed with his comfort level in front of the crowd. He handled questions well and had answers that kept you interested and laughing. I got the feeling that he was very capable of leadership andfelt like he could be a very good recruiter.
He started by talking about recruiting. He said he wanted kids who fit the program academically, athletically and socially. He said he wanted to get the big bodies in to really get going. He said they started well and mentioned several of the new recruits. He mentioned Kohler was 6'4" tall, wide and thick. He said he would be the first Rubik's cube to play college football. He mentioned that Kirkland and Collins had turned down Miami to be here and that with the drama surrounding Collins' mother that he would make sure she got a mother's day card. He also said he was afraid someone from Kansas State would firebomb Fayetteville since we stole some of their recruits and a great coach. He was very complimentary of the recruiting class. One of my favorite lines of the night was that Collins visited Wisconsin and didn't like the weather so BB changed jobs.
He said he had more that 20 seniors on the team right now and that they were all bought in. He said that these kids didn't come here to lose and that the situation they were faced with last year was very hard to deal with. He seemed to say that he believed we had more talent than we were being given credit for. He said that he was trying to teach them that all of that was history and that history did not have to dictate the future.
He talked just a small amount about practice and said that he would be opening practices at some point did not say the extent to which they would open. He said that he just felt like in today's social media society that he wanted to get to know the players and get comfortable with them without the outside world critiquing every move. He said that someone said that we had the toughest schedule in the nation this year but what that means is that those teams have to play us.
He was asked about offense and defense and was a little evasive I thought. He said that it would be a transition for awhile. He seemed to say that he understood we didn't have the horses to do what he wanted to do, but we would be a little more up tempo in the beginning and transition to more of a balanced pro style. He said Chaney had coached everything and that they mesh well. He said defensively we would highlight the front guys and that we would back that with solid coverage. He seemed to think that we needed the most work at linebacker adding that Spaight and Ellis had a chance to play right away.
He said that the defensive backs had looked pretty good so far, calling out Gaines, Bennett, Mitchell, Hines and Washington. He said Bennett really stood out in that he had practiced through a real case of the flu including throwing up and diarrhea. Yes he really said that.
He mentioned that he was very happy with his staff and their various ties to different geographical areas. I didn't realize Pittman was from Oklahoma. He said they would hit Texas harder than the last staff because that was a fertile border state. He said he had no idea how good these guys were as recruiters before he got them. He said both his offensive and defensive coordinators would be in the press box.
He said that the reason everyone talked about the SEC was basically what Alabama was able to achieve. He said that he signs autographs with a 1-0 because that is how he goes at everything. He believes you go at games one at a time and practices one at a time. He says you have to get better every day and that you want to end the year better than you began it. He says the biggest difference in the SEC and the Big 10 is the defensive speed. He has watched a lot of film of Alabama, LSU and A&M but not of Arkansas.
Finally, he said I didn't come here to play Alabama, I came here to beat them. Short, sweet and to the point. I thought it was great as did everyone I talked to. I hope he coaches as well as he excites a crowd.Report to moderator Logged

So he isn't going to be telling his guys during practice they have no shot of beating them like another coach we had?
Sounds like a decent strategy.

If they only have to worry about 11 games instead of 12 then they wont be as stressed out.

I always liked hearing after coming off a bye, then a blow out, "we really didn't feel like we could compete with those guys, we talked about that for the past three weeks".
Bama staaaaaaacked.
Moral, confidence, ego fuuuuuuuuuucked.

Yes.
If you look up the interviews after his second year, you can find him and Mallett admitting and apologizing for such in the media.
