After year 5.

The program was literally a dumpster fire and we'll be told it takes more than the typical 3 years to turn around the basketball team.

During the Auburn game I ran into TJ and asked him if we were ready for the season. "Working on it." I found it telling.

Had a good convo with TJ right when those guys got here when MA took the job.

He told me then it was going to take a while, but even then I figured in year 3 things like winning on the road would be figured out.

I completely agree, except we're paying CMA 2.2 Million a year. In year 3, he should be able to beat an A&M team (with, what, 25 people in attendance) on the road.

For that kind of $, I'd have hoped he would have at minimum brought a cup of water to pour on the dumpster fire

Yeah I don't care what anyone says, winning on the road doesn't matter what year the damn coach is in if you have triple the talent of the other team and there is literally zero atmosphere at said road game.

Shouldn't matter year 1 or year 3. Better, bigger, more skilled players, more depth, etc. We have it all over A&M. Add in 327 fans and you can hardly call it a road game. Lose by 20.

Don't disagree. You can't not make the tourney three years in a row and not feel a little heat. If he doesn't make the dance, his seat will be pretty warn. If he doesn't make the NIT this year, he'll be coaching for his job next season.

Anderson was about 4th or 5th down my list of desired, "realistic" candidates for the job at the time, and I even remarked to my wife then that I thought we overpaid for him. Like all coaches, I gave him the benefit of the doubt, but I'm tiring of coming up small whenever we venture outside the 479. Plus, the dynamics of college basketball allow for a quicker turnaround than in football, and it shouldn't be taking years to get back on track.

Well considering we had a lot of freshman getting their first taste of SEC road play, I'm willing to look at the rest of the season before jumping off the bridge.

2 freshmen is a lot?

And only one that gets a lot of PT?

Meh.

Blame Bell Qualls Scott Wade Clarke not the freshmen, Portis still played well on one end and gave it his all... Others not so much.

Hogs are the Dallas Cowboys of college BB. Both have been in the ditch since the 1990's.

You missed a lot, we already offered Gregg Marshall 4 million per.

He's supposed to PM Cheshire his acceptance letter by 3, presser at 4.

But I counted 26 points in missed layups, Mike Qualls missed about 8 of those.

One thing I am tired of, these motherfrickers who average 4PPG scoring 20 on us when we're on the road.

I only get mad when we play good D and they still go off.

We left them wide open, just terrible defense. Multiple times not even a defender within 5 feet.

Worst defensive effort/execution I've seen since early last season.

He should be firmly on it or fired. Im with Lat, wasn't thrilled with the hire, but thought he would at least make the tournament 75% of the time at worst.

It doesn't take 3 years to build a basketball team, not the same as football in any way, shape, or form. I'm sick of it. We could've had guys like Wichita States coach and we'd already be a top 25 team. I'm going Saturday and I'll cheer hard, but I have no faith in us going anywhere this year or next honestly

IMHO. I believe we have made progress since he has been here. Were not over the hump..but I wasn't expecting to be there yet anyways.
After the dreadful years before him. I am extremely happy with the fact that progress in any form or fashion is taking place on the hill. just a few years ago I'd have killed for a the least what we have right now.
I'd personally like to give Mike the appropriate time. More time, because for the Dumpster Fire shite Storm our program shamefully became and was when he inherited it... I believe it has most definitely not been enough time to change the culture that has come of Hawg Ball.
Mike Anderson has only 2 years of His recruits that fit his style, while also holding on to a talented group of recruits when him came in. Recruiting has gotten better since Mike came back to be Head Hog.
For once I see a team that doesn't look lost on the court, unlike the Jon Pelphrey days. I also see players who believe in their coach. Interest in the program has spiked up for fans since he has been here. not way up, but up! We do need more fans at the games though, home and Away, because his system needs a crowd... it feeds off them.
Mike taking the job probably had a lot to do with getting the appropriate funding and interest to build a practice facility which is much needed, And will also contribute in recruiting. The teams grade point average is looking better, and we are not losing scholarships to give out any more because of it. I have noticed that under Mike Anderson the players seem to be better behaved than under previous coaches and seem to be held at a Higher standard when it comes to everything off the court.
