You are clearly a mod over there, or are good buddies with one. Why do they permaban for everything? That's honestly my biggest gripe. Some good posters have been kicked out for the most ridiculous shite

To the OP: We tried to dissect exactly what makes Hogville the way it is once. For one, there's an abnormally large concentration of 50+ people on that board who don't understand rhe subtleties of modern Internet social interactions (trolling, how to read between the lines, etc), and that tends to lead to some very odd senses of humor. They do things like quote Andy Griffith a lot. They use a lot of small words with exclamation points as the punctuation. Grammar is inconsistent.
And then it's very heavily moderated. That wouldn't be so bad, except it's done so unevenly. Sure, I get that they don't want a bunch of swearing and porn posted to a site that's tied to a news station. But for the entirety of Bert's tenure, the word "Bert" would get autocorrected to Bret. It wasn't even an insult. Well, not at first. At first it was just a term of endearment. This was, of course, right up until Lanny decided he was fed up. Then suddenly Bert disappears from the censor. I know this because I was testing it periodically to see if it would ever be changed when an admin decided they couldn't pretend to be happy anymore. There's no real need for that kind of "rule" enforcement.
There's an unhealthy air of "just because" in the moderation. You deal with a lot of out-of-touch people, and it's made unbearable by the fact that they're allowed to be irritating to deal with so long as they're not bashing players or coaches, yet you're not allowed to make their presence tolerable by fricking with them until they get a clue.

I just don't get it, I haven't been a member here for near as long as some of you. But to me, this place isn't even close to being in the same frame of mind as the ville. This place gets a bit too much with our own fans flaming one another some time, that used to not happen so much. But, the ville is another form of absolute "Stupid".

Rev, please. This place for a long time was mostly rational discussion, the occasional Notabertfan appearance, and shitting on Pio because it's fun. This past football/basketball season and into the coaching search this place became a shitshow. 2 months ago on NSD half of the board fricking was in meltdown mode because ONE recruit we wanted went to Ole Miss. We signed arguably our most talented class ever after a 2 win season and we had idiots wanting to jump off bridges over one recruit. This board sucks. I only stick around in hopes it'll return to the way it was. This place and Reddit are the only Hog forums with any hope.

It sucks because Hogville is the most active place by far, and it often gets news first. It does have potential, despite the fact that it will never change.
Its football section is a goddamn ghost town, though. I've never seen it so bad, Hog fans truly do not care about football anymore. This decade had such a strong start and turned into by far the worst span for football since pre-WWII.

HV definitely does have the most informed and connected posters amongst its sea of shite. But news these days breaks just as quickly on Twitter as it does on HV if you know who to follow. So Thank god for Twitter so I can avoid HV entirely.

I get your point, but I still think we have a ways to go to get nearly as bad as ville.
I was once an admin on another board. Loved that place, it was like a family and we argued, but in the end we came together. Had a late night chat board there that was fun and hilarious.
I miss that place, but it went down hill with some folks leaving over personal stuff and taking some with them, then others just disappeared.
I found this place as my main razorback home. Love it in many ways. But moderation is lacking at time regarding the chit that is thrown around at one another personally, and the flaming. You have always, and I mean always been really cool to me. Appreciate it, especially when I first arrived. Hope things are going well my friend. WPS!

Of course my guy. You've been a great, active and level headed poster from the get-go. I still love a LOT of the regulars on here, including many I disagree with and argue with often. It's just the psycho background noise that's gotten so loud recently that bums me out on this place.
