I'm listening to the scanner. They've located the suspect's vehicle at Church and Mountain. Sounds like the guy parked his car behind the visitor's bureau, walked among people going to see the Square Christmas lights, and shot the first police officer he came across.
This makes me so GD mad.
Edit: If you walk from Church and Mountain toward the PD, you'll eventually cross the police station "back parking lot", which is practically an alley. That's where he killed the officer.

It probably would be, but sanctuary cities are against Arkansas state law. Most of Fayetteville's problems lately are self-inflicted nonsense, for sure.

God stuff like this really shakes me to my core. I know I'm just an average guy that has a family, but happens to be a federal officer for my career. I can't imagine someone wanting to kill me because of what I chose as a career path, even though I know there's probably some out there.

Find a single story discussing any illegal alien arrested where INS asked Fayetteville to hold them for processing and Fayetteville refused and released them instead.
You can't, I just looked and couldn't. I did find a few stories where the opposite happened though.
Not all problems are political and Democrats don't automatically want illegal aliens to stay in the US. Obama deported 1.18?million people during his first three years in office, Trump has deported fewer than 800,000 but that doesn't fit the narrative. What he didn't do was label every one of them as violent criminals.
